It has produced one of the vintage’s most compelling wines in 2005. Sadly, there are only 4,000 bottles of this inky/purple-hued St.-Emilion. It boasts an extraordinary perfume of graphite, blackberries, cassis, and sweet kirsch intermixed with notes of incense, spice box, licorice, and subtle wood. Bellevue Mondotte ist eine 2 Hektar Parzelle, die direkt an Chateau Mondotte angrenzt und oberhalb von Chateau Pavie gelegen ist. Gerard Perse hatte sich diese Parzelle 2001 kurzfristig gesichert, wenn auch einige Nachbarn hieran interessiert gewesen wären. Die im Durchschnitt 45 Jahre alten Reben sind zu etwa 90 % Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Franc und 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon. Gerard Perse arbeitet auf diesem Gut mit Erträgen von sensationellen 15 Hektoliter pro Hektar. Deshalb ist der Bellevue Mondotte sicher der konzentrierteste aller Perse Weine, trotzdem aber sicherlich nicht unbalanciert. Mokka, Kaffee frisch geröstet, dunkle Beeren, ein Konzentrat an Geschmackseindrücken Interessant wird es in einigen Jahren sein, zu vergleichen wie sich ein Bellevue Mondotte im Vergleich mit einem La Mondotte trinkt. |
