Ehemals Chateau Mouton. Ja, Sie haben richtig gelesen, der Name stimmt. Das Gut hat allerdings nichts mit Mouton Rothschild zu tun. Bereits 1881 erscheint das Gut im Ferret, der Bibel der Bordeaux-Güter. Die Ursprünge gehen allerdings weiter zurück bis in die Zeit der Römer. Im 17. Jahrhundert spielte das Gut eine wohl sehr bedeutende Rolle, was aus der Architektur der Gebäude hervorgeht. Der Wein darf sich nur als Bordeaux Superieur bezeichnen, was bezüglich des Preises ein großer Vorteil ist. Der Besitzer Herr Janouiex, ebenfalls Inhaber von Croix St. Georges, La Confession und Le Conseiller, setzt kompromisslos auf Spitzenqualität. So baut er diesen Wein alljährlich in 100% neuen Barriques aus. 19 Hektar stehen auf Mouton unter Reben, das Durchschnittsalter beträgt 35 Jahre. Die Cuvée ist eher ungewöhnlich, besteht sie doch zu 70% aus Merlot mit 25% Cabernet Franc und 5% Petit Verdot. Daraus lässt sich auch das tolle, weiche Geschmacksprofil herleiten.
