MAYBACH steht für Exklusivität und überragende Qualität. Maybach ist ein Mythos und eine Legende für sich. Diesem hohen Anspruch wird Christoph Maybach, Enkel von Karl Maybach, dem Firmengründer der MTU-Vorgängergesellschaft Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau, in beeindruckender Weise gerecht. Christoph Maybach ist Inhaber des Napa Valley Weingutes Maybach, er produziert dort eine kleine Menge eines absoluten Weltklassewein (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) namens MAYBACH MATERIUM aus dem Weitz Vineyard. Diese Traumlage liegt in der Oakville Appellation in direkter Nachbarschaft zu Dalla Valle etwa 300m über dem Talboden. Namen wie Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, und andere haben diesen Ost-West durch das Napa Valley verlaufenden Gürtel Weltbekannt gemacht. Frau Irmgard Schmid-Maybach sagt über Ihren Sohn: „ …Mein ältester Sohn, Christoph, führt das Maybach Weingut im kalifornischen Napa Valley – und dies mit der gleichen Detailverliebtheit wie sein Großvater. Die Qualität, die Karl Maybach mit seinen Automobilen erzielte, will Christoph mit seinen Weinen erzielen...“ Recht hat sie, in den USA ist der Wein bereits seit dem erstem Jahrgang Kult, und dies nicht ohne Grund. Thomas Brown, einer der zur Zeit führenden Winemaker weltweit, ist für die Vinifizierung zuständig. Seiner Hand ist es verdanken, dass die Weine eine unglaubliche Finesse, Komplexität und eine eher europäische Stilistik zeigen, Parker vergleicht die Weine gar mit Chateau Margaux. |
