Finishes very long and minerally, with building, fine-grained tannins. These top 2004 cuvees boast terrific acidity for the vintage and are likely to evolve slowly."

With a drop of Petit Verdot, which adds a touch of violets, this is one of the best high mountain Cabs of the vintage. Too dry and toughly astringent to drink before 2010; should develop well through 2016, at least. Cellar Selection."
* 94 Punkte CONNOISSEURS GUIDE to California Wine: "Enormously rich oak may lead the way here, yet beneath its sweet veneer of vanilla, caramel and cream, this very deep and impressively stuffed wine shows plenty of optimally ripened currants and black cherries along with deft touches of loamy earth and lightly peppery spice. It is presently closed off by lots of abrasive astringency, and it is not one for drinking any time soon, but, given the seven to ten years of patience that its structure commends, it will evolve into a profound Cabernet of enormous appeal." |

Jim und Carolyn Pride, die Besitzer von Pride Mountain, meinten in einer ihrer Newsletter: "These are truly wines to make your heart sing." Als sie 1989 die ca. 40 Hektar dieser sensationellen Farm kauften, ahnten sie nicht, was an Arbeit auf sie zukam und wie lang der Weg an die Spitze dauern würde. Jim jedoch, promovierter Dentist, Inhaber einer der angesehensten Marketingberaterfirmen der USA, hatte einen klaren Fokus, und mit Stolz konnte er noch vor seinem Tod im Sommer 2004 das Gut an seinen Sohn Steve übergeben. Der Ursprung hier oben am Spring Mountain reicht bereits zurück bis 1869. Damals, als die ersten Reben gepflanzt wurden, hieß das genau auf der Grenze zwischen der Napa Appellation und der Sonoma Appellation gelegene Weingut noch Summit Winery. Die Böden hier auf über 600 m Seehöhe entstammen alle vulkanischem Ursprung und verleihen den Weinen diese tolle Komplexität mit teilweise deutlich spürbaren mineralischen Noten. Kurios, dass, bedingt durch die Grenzlage, die einzelnen Weine verschiedene Appellationen tragen. Die Lage ist wirklich spektakulär und traumhaft schön. Wenn Sie noch nicht verheiratet sind, hier oben können Sie es arrangieren ... Neu hinzu kam im Jahre 2003 ein millionenteurer, unterirdischer Stollen. Die verantwortliche Winemakerin, Sally Johnson, sie würde wohl auch auf jedem Laufsteg eine gute Figur abgeben, war lange Zeit Assistentin von Bob Foley, der bis 2007 Winemaker auf Pride war.
