WEINWISSER: „88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 56 hl/ha. Sattes Purpur mit rubinrotem Rand. Komplexes würziges Bouquet mit reifen Pflaumen, Kardamom und Szechuan-Pfeffer, dahinter Holundergelee. Am kräftigen Gaumen mit engmaschigem Tanningerüst und fleischigem Extrakt, man spürt die ungestüme Kraft, die hier schlummert. Im gebündelten Finale kleine schwarze Beeren, Pfefferschoten und Brasiltabak, endet mit zarter Adstringenz. Auf dem gleichen Niveau wie im Vorjahr, mit einem Tick mehr Eleganz!"

FALSTAFF: „Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zart mit Grafit unterlegte schwarze Waldbeerfrucht, feiner Kirschtouch, ein Hauch von Lakritze und Kräutern. Saftig, elegant, feine rote Frucht, frischer Säurebogen, reife Tannine, lebendiger, trinkfreudiger Stil, mineralisch-salziger Nachhall, anregender Speisenbegleiter."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: „Dark red fruits, coffee bean, flowers, licorice and chocolate are found in the nose. Fresh and silky on the palate, with a gorgeous purity to the fruits and silky textures in the cherry packed finish, this is going to take a few years before it starts to deliver its true essence. The wine is made from 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2023-2035."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "A terrific effort from this large and immaculately maintained property on the clay-limestone slopes of the Côtes de Castillon, the 2019 d'Aiguilhe exhibits aromas of cherries and cassis mingled with notions of burning embers, licorice and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a mineral finish, it's intelligently matured in tank and large-format oak as well as small barriques."

JAMES SUCKLING: „Aromas of ripe blackberries, grilled plums, tobacco and dark chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Compact and structured. Drink after 2024."

It has plenty of ripeness, medium body, present tannins, and the balance and class to keep for 10-15 years.”

WINE SPECTATOR: „Restrained but with good inner juiciness to its plum and cassis notes, while red licorice and red tea hints chime through. Shows a subtle chalky minerality that lengthens the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2026. 26,540 cases made, 2,200 cases imported."
