92 JAMES SUCKLING: A blend of pinot noir (70%) and chardonnay (30%), this has a profound sense of harmony on both the nose and palate. Aromas of grilled nuts, pepper and lightly spiced wild raspberry fruits are pristine, leading to a palate that has beautifully supple, fleshy texture. The acidity is assertive, not harsh- the depth, balance and concentration is really something. Drink now whilst fresh or up to three years." 92 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The Vilmart NV Grande Reserve represents a blend of relatively young vines of Chardonnay with around 20% Pinot Noir. These are from vintages 2009 and 2010, though the result displays a surprising degree of lees autolysis in the nose, joined by smoky and chalky nuances that come out more emphatically on the silken, finely effervescent palate. Suggestions of jellied red currant along with apple and lemon – as well as a faint aura of barrel – put me a bit in mind of Chassagne-Montrachet. This finishes with bursting brightness, ringing clarity, mouthwatering salinity, cheek-pinching piquancy, and consummate refreshment. It should fare deliciously for at least the one or two years." 91 FALSTAFF: "Goldgelb, lang anhaltendes feines Mousseux. The NV Grande Réserve is a great introduction to the house style. A model of total finesse and understatement, the Grande Réserve captures the essence of Vilmart in its silky texture and exceptional overall balance. Sweet floral notes grace the crystalline finish. This release is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from the 2012 and 2011 vintages." 2015-2020."
