THE WINE ADVOCATE: "This beautiful, fully mature 1983 exhibits a dark garnet color in addition to gorgeous aromas of smoked herbs, earth, licorice, black fruits, and minerals. The elegant, complex perfume is followed by equally compelling, medium-bodied, expansive, savory flavors. It is a model of opulence, elegance, and finesse. Anticipated maturity: now-2006. Last tasted, 1/03"

DECANTER: "This was Olivier Bernard's first vintage, and it's a good one. Acidity levels seem higher in the 1980s as a whole, no doubt to do with picking dates, but here it absolutely works. There's a shot of zesty citrus right from the start and the toasted peach-pit flavour holds up through the palate. It has held its own and manages a mouthwatering finish. Drinking Window 2018 - 2024."
