DECANTER: "One of the more bouncy wines, making a positive out of the fresh fruit character. Dark spice and black cherry is in evidence. There’s great intensity but also a sense of freshness. It’s a wine that accompanies you all the way through the palate, holding your interest as it goes. With vines situated up in Saillans, the yields were at 30hl/h, which is fairly typical. A good 5% of 100-year-old Malbec vines makes up the blend. This is austere, but it has energy and will age well. The first wine was 70% of production for this vintage. 35% was frost affected. Drinking Window 2022 - 2024"

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Smoke, espresso, licorice and cherry notes on the nose move right through to the fresh, soft, round, sweet and fruity finish. You can enjoy this young but a few years will allow the oak to better integrate with the wine."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Moulin Haut-Laroque rocks up with open-knit plum preserves, blueberry pie and kirsch scents plus touches of truffles and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is laden with juicy black fruits with a plush texture and wonderfully pure finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This has vibrant aromas of ripe dark plums and blackberries with earthy, woody complexity. The palate has attractive, fleshy fruit that sits open and approachable. Drink or hold."
