Im Gaumen für einmal bei der Primeurprobe erstaunlich fein, trotz den gut stützenden Tanninen eine tolle Süsse ausstrahlend, Zedernholznote, helles Karamell, rotes Kirschenkompott, im Nachklang dann doch noch sanfte «Krallen», ein durch den Ausbau noch zu zähmendes, sanftes Monster. Faire Bewertung wie immer schwierig, in der Reife wird wohl noch locker ein Punkt mehr drinliegen." 95 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Always ripe, always velvety and dense in texture, Pavie´s 2006 nevertheless also shows more structure and elegance than in the past few vintages. The result is a great wine, with smoky, rich fruit and a dense, concentrated core of sweet tannins, chocolate and fresh raspberry flavors. While it is seductive now, it really needs many years of aging." 95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index´s annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Pavie has a rich, generous, almost opaque bouquet with raspberry coulis, crushed strawberry, vanilla and melted tar, very well-defined and focused - perhaps more so than the 2006 Angelus? The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, a keen line of acidity, very harmonious in the mouth with black cherries, wild strawberry, citrus fruit, a touch of tar and tobacco developing towards the finish. It leans towards Cheval Blanc in style, but whatever its semblances, it remains a very well-crafted Saint Emilion with a long future ahead. Tasted January 2016." 95 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Still deep in color, the wine is developing secondary aromatics of truffle, cigar box, earth, licorice and blackberries. The tannins are a bit strict here, the wine has a firm character, full bodied and ample concentration that will require at least 5 - 10 more years to soften and develop." 95 ANTONIO GALLONI: "Saturated bright ruby. The fruit-driven aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, violet pastille, espresso, minerals and sexy oak offer superb perfume. Hugely rich and sweet but with outstanding inner-mouth minerality and energy and enticing violet lift. For all its ripeness, there´s nothing roasted about this superconcentrated Saint-Emilion; in fact, this wine is quite backward and reserved today. The finish features exceptionally sweet tannins and great palate-saturating length. The bottled wine has turned out to be even better than my barrel tastings suggested. Wow!" 94 WINESPECTATOR: "Hitting its stride now, with alluring singed juniper and apple wood notes that have melded nicely with the core of lightly steeped red currant and blackberry fruit.
