Chateau Beychevelle
Chateau Beychevelle 2010
95 JAMES SUCKLING: "Beautiful aromas of blackberries, currants and flowers. Very aromatic. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and gorgeous fruit. It´s polished and very refined. One of the best Beychevelles in years. Try in 2018."
95 Neal Martin: “Tasted at the Union de Grand Cru in London. The Beychevelle 2010 has a very refined bouquet with blackberry, mineral, a touch of wild heather – all beautifully defined although still a little closed after bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry, light peppery fruit and a deep, almost broody finish that demonstrates great weight and persistency. This is a great Beychevelle from Philippe Blanc and his team, though it deserves several years in bottle. Tasted November 2012.”
94 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. The Chateau Beychevelle 2010 has a comparatively opulent bouquet compared to its peers: more Pauillac in style with graphite tinged black fruit, boysenberry and blackcurrant, with a slight exotic note underneath - marmalade or even peach. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, ripe, succulent tannins. There is a fine line of acidity here, a gentle grip and a lovely spicy finish. One of Philippe Blanc´s finest wines in recent years. Tasted January 2014." - Neal Martin.
94 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Beychevelle´s style privileges elegance over weight, and such is the case with the 2010. It´s a pure-fruited, ripe and lightly tannic wine, emphasizing a blackberry note. This will evolve relatively quickly, reaching a peak in approximately eight years."
94 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Even better than the 2009, the 2010 Beychevelle has more of everything, focus, energy, concentration, length and tannins. Full bodied, fresh and lively, the blast of sweet, ripe, dark red fruits, polished tannins and length that keeps it going is the mark of a really great wine. At the moment, it needs at least 3-4 hours in the decanter and coaxing to see its potential. I´d give it until at least 2022-2025 before it really starts to sing."
93 WINESPECTATOR: "Features a gutsy feel, displaying dark, roasted cedar and tobacco notes framing a core of steeped fig, blackberry paste and plum skin that rumbles through the tarry finish. Shows strong grip on the back end, with the briary edge extending nicely. Best from 2016 through 2035."
