Chateau Canon
Chateau Canon 1982
94 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Popped and poured, the wine is elegant, earthy, fresh, complex, silky, long and fresh. Definitely drinking great today, this is a beauty that blends refinement with sex appeal. For a bottle of this quality from the legendary 1982 vintage, it´s also available for a fair price today, especially at auction."
93 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Tasted at Pebbles/Zachy’s 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. Tasting alongside Pavie and Figeac, Canon is easily the finest of the three 1982s. It has a lovely bouquet with bilberry, black truffle and a touch of leather that is vibrant and for Canon, quite rich and opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with good volume, relative low acidity and a soft, rounded, blueberry finish with just the faintest VA giving it a little kick. I have encountered better bottles in the past, so perhaps this is approaching the end of its plateau?"
93 WINESPECTATOR: "Shows mint, black tea, sous-bois and sandalwood notes that are distinctive and alluring. Long and refined on the finish, with supple black cherry and boysenberry fruit gliding throughout. Wins mostly on aroma, but there´s still sneaky depth and length here. Lovely.—Non-blind Canon vertical (December 2016). Drink now through 2022."
92 ANTONIO GALLONI: "Good full red. Superripe aromas of roasted red fruits, chocolate and minerals. Dense, rich and chocolatey, but still youthfully vibrant and full of life. Classy and deep, with a complicating nutty note. A solidly structured wine that finishes with firm, ripe tannins and lovely persistence. Should last well." - Stephen Tanzer - Jul 2002.
17.5 JANCIS ROBINSON: "Soft and appealing with real mineral notes. Very fruity and ready. Gentle, beguiling texture. Drink now!"
