"Offering up aromas of cherries, wild berries, licorice and loamy soil that only hint at the aromatic range to come with a little bottle age, the 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and sumptuous, its deep and multidimensional core fruited by rich but refined tannins and lively balancing acids, concluding with a long, beautifully defined finish. This is a serious, concentrated Charmes that—as I wrote last year—fully vindicates Loïc Dugat-Py's decision to harvest early, as well as his move to a reduced percentage of new oak (only 66%) for this cuvée."

"Dugat-Pys’ one hectare of vines in Charmes-Chambertin produced a mere six barrels this year. Vinified with 50% whole cluster fruit, this is an assembly of five parcels of Charmes, plus one of Mazoyères which is considered to be closer in geology to the former than stonier Mazoyères. The resulting wine is very fine, bursting from the glass with a huge bouquet of briary black fruit, red cherry, burning embers, rose petal and grilled meat. On the palate the wine is deep and multidimensional, its expansive attack cutting a broad swathe across the palate. It has a core of sweet, vibrant and rich fruit, and an impressive structural chassis which is almost entirely concealed - its suppleness should make this the most immediate of the Dugat-Py grand crus."

Die Familie Dugat Py vinifiziert mittlerweile seit 13 Generationen Weine in einem der beeindruckensten und ältesten Weinkeller des Burgund: Die Keller von Dugat Py bestehen aus einem alten Gewölbe, das aus dem 11. Jahrhundert datiert! Die jüngste Generation, vertreten durch Loic Dugat Py, herrscht über die familieneigenen 10 Hektar, die mit bis zu 100 Jahre alten, biologisch bewirtschafteten, Reben bestockt sind, die traditionell mit dem Pferdepflug bearbeitet werden. Die Erträge auf Dugat Py gehen aufgrund der alten Reben selten über 20hl/ha hinaus. Die Stilistik der Dugat Py Weine baut durch die Vergärung mit Stilen und der Verwendung von neuem Holz auf Kraft, Dichte, Präzision und Langlebigkeit. Dugat Py Pinots sind beeindruckende Weinmonumente, die in nahezu provozierender Natürlichkeit das Terroir jeder einzelnen Lage widerspiegeln, zudem über ein unglaubliches Potential und enorme Langlebigkeit verfügen. Dugat Py ist Kult und weltweit enorm gesucht.
