In der Nase sehr burgundisch, mit Noten von Apfel, Limette, Ananas und einer ganz feinen Mango-Exotik, zudem dezente Reduktion. Am Gaumen stimmt hier einfach alles, sehr schöner Burgundischer Fluss, weiße und gelbe, saftige Steinfrucht, Aprikose, Pfirsich, Nektarine und Quitte, zudem dezente Limette, die alles angenehm austariert. Das ist ein „Rundherum-perfekt-Paket" von einem Chardonnay. Länge, Saftigkeit, Frische, Eleganz, alles perfekt balanciert…das war´s, wir haben ohnehin nicht viel. Unsere Flasche auf jeden Fall machte großen Spaß!!

"Bright medium yellow/green-hued, the 2021 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast has a gorgeous, fresh nose of bright flint, delicate oak spice, crystalline starfruit, fresh white flowers, and lime blossoms. Medium-bodied, it’s lovely on the palate, with a fantastic chalky texture and a great finish that gently tapers away. It’s long on the palate and is going to offer a wide drinking window over the coming 8-10 years."

Ferren

Matt Courtney ist der charismatische Name hinter Ferren Wines und der hat es in sich. Mehr als 8 Jahre war Matt für die Wein-Ikone Helen Turley als Winemaker tätig, dort zuständig für die Vinifizierung der Weine von Marcassin, dem Kultweingut schlechthin. Eine bessere Adresse kann man nicht als Referenz vorweisen. Und das zeigt sich auch in den Weinen von Courtney. Er verbringt ohnehin einen Großteil seiner Reisezeit im Burgund und pflegt dort beste Kontakte, den Weinen merkt man es an. Die Trauben für seine Einzellagen bezieht Matt von handverlesenen Lagen, die nach seinen strengen Kriterien bewirtschaftet werden. Er schreibt: „…Each of the vineyards in the portfolio is a jewel of the true Coast, has been hand picked based on its potential for producing profound, age-worthy wines, and is farmed to the highest standards of sustainability and wine quality…“ Die Mengen, die Unger Weine als Exklusiv-Importeur erhält sind leider extrem gering, die Qualität aber beeindruckend!

Zum Weingut
