Wine Spectator: "Smelling like a raspberry and Port reduction, this manages to let an enormous core of bittersweet chocolate, plum compote, chocolate ganache and exotic spice flavors glide across the palate. Its obvious muscularity strides in on the finish and the flavors echo almost endlessly. Needs time though. Best from 2006 through 2030. 400 cases made."

Jancis Robinson: "93% Syrah, 7% Viognier, flint and limestone soil, fermented in stainless steel vats, 3 week cuvaison. Crimson. More defined and slightly more austere than Mouline. Lots of acidity and tannin but absolutely no shortage of fully ripe fruit. Confident wine that is still a teenager. Big and bold. Long, dry finish."

Jeb Dunnuck: "Very young and almost jammy, the 2000 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque shows lots of classy oak and vanilla that haven’t integrated with the earthy, cassis slanted fruit. Medium to full bodied, this is balanced, rich and long."

The Wine Advocate: "The medium to full-bodied 2000 Cote Rotie La Turque (which includes 7% Viognier) offers notes of espresso, Chinese black tea, plum, fig, and black currant fruit. It is undeniably a top success for this somewhat challenging vintage. It is already drinking well, and should age nicely for 12-15 years."

The Wine Cellar Insider: "La Turque light is an apt description. The fruit is clean, ripe, soft and open, but the medium bodied finish is quite short. In this vintage, this is one of those famous wines that is not worth the money."
