"Always one of the star crus bourgeois, Chasse-Spleen has produced a 2003 that manages to combine the rich, ripe fruits of the year with the right tannins and sweetness, along with blackberry fruits. It has the elegance and delicacy of Moulis, as well as some good intensity of flavor. A wine that will certainly age for 10 years or more. "

Chateau Chasse Spleen

Auf Chasse Spleen (Zweitweine L´Ermitage de Chasse Spleen und L´Oratoire de Chasse Spleen) wird bereits seit dem 12. Jahrhundert Wein angebaut. Seit 1976 jedoch ist das Frauensache. Damals übernahm Bernadette Villars, die Tochter des Besitzers Jacques Merlaut, Chasse Spleen. 1992 gab sie es an ihre Tochter Claire weiter. Inzwischen führt Chateau Chasse Spleen ihre jüngere Schwester Céline. Unter der Führung der Damen machte Chateau Chasse Spleen qualitativ einen gewaltigen Sprung nach vorne. Auf den rund 100 Hektar stehen zu 65% Cabernet-Sauvignon-Reben, 30% sind Merlot und 5% Petit Verdot. 18 Monate reifen die Weine in kleinen Holzfässern, vor der Abfüllung wird auf jegliches Filtern verzichtet. 40% der Barriques werden jedes Jahr ausgetauscht.
