Great spice and coffee layers, tons of texture that builds to power and concentration, and you feel the tannins as a physical presence. Give it another five years, although doesn't need the full 10. Chateau Durfort Vivens

Um die besonderen Qualitäten von Chateau Durfort Vivens wusste schon der frühere US-Präsident Thomas Jefferson. Bei einer Reise nach Bordeaux im Jahr 1775 (damals war er Botschafter der USA in Frankreich) notierte er, ein Durfort Vivens sei fast so gut wie ein Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Haut Brion und Chateau Margaux. Damit bewies Jefferson Weinkenntnis und Weitblick – bei der Klassifizierung von 1855 wurde Durfort Vivens als Deuxième Cru Classé bewertet. Die modernen technischen Anlagen im Keller Chateau Durfort Vivens wurden so gefertigt, dass jede Parzelle einzeln vinifiziert werden kann. Die Größen der Gärtanks aus Holz und Beton entsprechen genau den jeweiligen Erntemengen. Die 55 Hektar Weinberge von Durfort Vivens sind zu 70% mit Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot und 5% bepflanzt. Die Reifezeit im Barrique beträgt 18 Monate, der Anteil neuer Fässer liegt bei 50%.
