DECANTER: "Tiny, tiny, tiny. This parcel runs to all of 0.019ha and produced just 84 litres of wine in 2017, which means there's not a lot of wine to go around. But what a wine this is: incredibly intense and focussed, with subtle wood spices framing juicy, sweet and palate-enticing fruits. Simply delicious."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2017 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru was also showing extremely well, wafting from the glass with an alluring bouquet of candied peel, red cherries, dried flowers and coniferous forest floor. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and sensual, with a deep, layered core of succulent fruit and a graceful, elegant profile."

BURGHOUND: "A cool, airy and strikingly well-layered nose is comprised by liqueur-like aromas of essence of red and dark currant, plum, rose petal and earth wisps. There is equally good depth to the moderately dense flavors that possess a wonderfully beguiling texture before terminating a well-balanced, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This is quite firm and tightly wound and is clearly a wine built for the longer-term."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Griotte by name and by nature: the gorgeous sweet/sour nose of griottes cherries singing from the glass already. Intensity without unwanted sweetness. Succulent and extremely fresh, the tannins remarkably supple for a young wine. All in finesse and length here. No bulging muscles but all sinews and core strength. Builds to a finely chewy compact finish and then lifts to fresh persistence. Fabulous fruit purity. Mouth-watering and moreish. (JH)"
