  JEB DUNNUCK:"A blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 Beau-Sejour-Becot is another terrific 2005 that’s still young, yet offers plenty of pleasure. Crème de cassis, graphite and chocolate characteristics all emerge from this broad, fabulously pure, concentrated beauty. It’s just at the early stages of its drinking plateau and has another 2-3 decades of primes drinking ahead of it."

  THE WINEADVOCATE:"A beautiful wine from Beau-Séjour Bécot, the color of the 2005 is an opaque purple and the wine is loaded with notes of cedar wood, Asian spice, blackberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied and tannic, but broad, huge, and massive, this wine is still an infant and needs another 7-10 years of cellaring. This is a 40- to 50-year wine from the Bécot family."

Another 5 years will add a lot of complexity and depth to this wine. When matrue, this should gain a Pt or two in the ratings. 2005 remains my favorite vintage of Beau-Sejour Becot."

  FALSTAFF:"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, fast schwarzer Kern, violette Reflexe, in der Nase feine Holzwürze über rotbeerigem Konfit, zart animalischer Hauch, eher verhalten. Am Gaumen saftig, feine Säurestruktur, etwas Backwerk, etwas in die Breite angelegt, nussige Aromen im Finale, sehr harmonisch und praktisch trinkfertig."
