Chateau Carbonnieux - Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc 2014

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2014 Carbonnieux Blanc has a detailed and vivacious bouquet offering attractive blackcurrant leaf and citrus aromas, hints of almond and white chocolate just tucked in nicely below the surface. The palate is well balanced with a slice of bitter lemon on the entry. This is a little more piercing in the mouth compared to its peers, as such, it would shine when partnered with shellfish or even hard cheese, rather than a white Pessac-Léognan to serve on its own. Still, a great job here this year."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Aromas of cooked apples, lemons and stones. Full body, tangy acidity and a grapefruit aftertaste. Lively and fresh."

DECANTER: "Knife-edge fresh citrus and lime blossom. Lean mid-palate – again, seems a characteristic of the vintage. 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon and just 20% new oak. Drinking Window 2017 - 2027"

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Bracing acidity, unsweetened lemonade, grapefruit, and honeydew melon notes really get the perfume going. Fresh, and energetic on the palate, this is quite nice."

WINE SPECTATOR: "A ripe and friendly style, with creamed gooseberry and white peach flavors, lined with lemon curd notes and backed by a whiff of shortbread on the finish. Has a lovely verbena echo that lengthens the finish. Hard to lay off now, but this has the zip for a little bit of aging. Drink now through 2019. 15,000 cases made."
