WINEADVOCATE: "Along with the 1986, the 1982 is one of the greatest Talbots ever made. Far more evolved than its stablemate, Gruaud Larose, it exhibits a dense garnet color to the rim along with a huge, sweet, exotic nose of charcoal, beef blood, licorice, herbs, and black fruits. A hint of figs suggests borderline overripeness, but the wine remains fleshy and full-bodied with sweet tannin and an expansive, heady mouthfeel. While fully mature, it should hold for another decade."

WEINWISSER: "Mittleres Granat. Ausgeprägte, animalische Noten, möglicherweise nicht jedermanns Sache, für Talbot-Liebhaber ein uneingeschränkter Spass, viel Frucht, erfrischende Minze. Am Gaumen Süsse, Fülle und herrliche Aromen im Überfluss, samtene Weichheit und mollige Opulenz. Dieser Wein, der wohl noch einige Jahre viel Freude machen wird, ist ein kleines Phänomen: Schon vor zehn Jahren befürchteten wir, dass er ziemlich bald abbauen werde, und jetzt präsentiert er sich fast jugendlicher als damals."

WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Fully mature, with a nose of tobacco, cigar box, cassis, figs and a hint of jam. The wine is full bodied, concentrated and feels great through the earthy, cassis and cigar wrapper finish."

ANTONIO GALLONI: " The 1982 Talbot has long been one of my favourites of the decade. Now at 35 years of age it retains its deep garnet colour. The bouquet is fresh and vigorous with black fruit, sous-bois, chocolate and a light splash of balsamic, almost like a “toned down” Gruaud Larose. The palate is cohesive with fine but firm tannin, ample black fruit infused with tobacco and a touch of dark chocolate. It is classic and traditional Talbot through and through, and on this showing it will provide another two decade’s of drinking pleasure.
