Wine Spectator: Blackberry, cherry, currant and minerals on the nose. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a vanilla, berry aftertaste. Balanced and pretty for the vintage. Much better than I remember. -- '88/'98 Bordeaux blind retrospective (2008). Drink now. 10,000 cases made."

The Wine Advocate: The 1985 is a rich, ripe, relatively alcoholic wine possessing a charming, precocious personality, medium to full body, low acidity, but plenty of flesh and fruit. Anticipated maturity: Now."

Jane Anson: Everthing comes together here, and the 2016 is a better vintage at Camensac than the 2010, even though on paper there are similarities in terms of weather. The team has here drawn out a sculpted, savoury personality, a little earthy on the finish but unfussy and welcoming, with ripe raspberry and blackberry fruits, slate, pummice stone, white pepper, pulses of energy and confident tannic hold. 60% new oak. Eric Boissenot consultant, Clare Thomas-Chenard technical director."

Wine Enthusiast: A perfumed, smoky wine, this boasts a firm line of tannins that gives the wine weight and concentration. It's rich and solidly structured while remaining deliciously fruity."

The Wine Cellar Insider: This is heart-stopping wine. Hedonistic, opulent, sensuous, silky and flamboyant, the decadent, sexy character steals the show. And all the countless waves of dark chocolate, truffles, black cherry, mint, flowers, lilacs, violets and plums on the nose carry through in the 60-second finish. This is a candidate for perfection."

Chateau Lagrange existierte schon im Jahr 1631. Aufsehen erregte Lagrange allerdings erstmals 1842.

Jane Anson: Power, freshness, depth, after the extremes of 2021 and 2022, this walks the line between the two, exceptional, mandarin, quince, mirabelle plums, white truffle, fresh fruit and confit fruit, a vibration of slate and steel, opulent but slices closed on the finish. The botrytis came early and quickly in 2023. Francis Mayeur in final vintage as consultant, after many years as inhouse winemaking team, Lorenzo Pasquini director. 154g/l residual sugar, 3.85ph, harvest September 14 to October 11."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Composed of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.5% Merlot, the 2019 Latour is deep garnet-purple in color. It comes barreling out of the glass with powerful notes of blackcurrant jelly, blackberry pie, and plum preserves, followed by suggestions of pencil shavings, cast-iron pan, and charcoal. The medium to full-bodied palate is exquisitely constructed with a myriad of very fine layers, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and beautiful tension, finishing epically long and mineral-laced. It's still very tightly wound and will require at least 5 to 7 more years in cellar, then should age gracefully for a good 50-years+."

Wine Spectator: Complex aromas of blackberry, fresh mushrooms, tobacco and wet earth. Full-bodied, soft and luxurious texture to this ripe and opulent wine. Long and decadent too. The Wine Advocate: Beychevelle, owners of one of the great terroirs of the northern Medoc, continues to produce wines that are frustratingly irregular in quality. A dark ruby color is followed by a wine revealing plenty of new oak, a touch of pepper, but very little of the vegetal character found in many Medoc 1993s. Spicy fruit is present, but the wine is austere and tannic, although elegant and subtle."

Jeb Dunnuck: The 2020 Château De Fonbel is based on 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Carmenère, coming from more sandy, gravelly soils. This deep ruby-hued effort offers a terrific bouquet of red and black currants, leafy tobacco, sandalwood, and graphite, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It's surprisingly accessible yet is going to have 15 years of prime drinking, possibly more."
