Lisa Perrotti-Brown: A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot, the 2002 Dominus has a deep garnet color, with a slight hint of brick. It is a little closed and broody to begin, needing some convincing to encourage notes of tar, black truffles, tobacco leaf, and cast-iron pan, leading to a core of plum pudding, blackberry preserves, and blackcurrant jam, plus a waft of charcuterie. The full-bodied palate is packed with youthful blackberry preserves and earthy layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering meaty/savory note. So youthful - it still has many years ahead of it!"

Jancis Robinson: Straddles the Napa-Bordeaux horse, with well-ripened, dark cherry fruit and sweet vanillin oak melding with dusty herbs, forest floor, cedar and tobacco notes. Marvelous concentration and depth; firmly tannic, yet also generous. Could be Christian Moueix’s best Dominus."

The Wine Advocate: The 2003 Dominus is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (14.1% alcohol). Remarkably, it is the 20th vintage for Christian Moueix. Always a Bordeaux-inspired wine with restraint yet substance as well as a textured richness, the 2003 exhibits a deep plum/ruby/purple color, a creamy, opulent texture, no hard edges, and a wonderful sweetness of foresty, black currant and cherry fruit mixed with underbrush and hints of Chinese black tea. Well-proportioned and full-bodied, yet never over-stated or out of balance, this is another beauty from Moueix. Drink it over the next 15+ years."

Jane Anson: Everthing comes together here, and the 2016 is a better vintage at Camensac than the 2010, even though on paper there are similarities in terms of weather. The team has here drawn out a sculpted, savoury personality, a little earthy on the finish but unfussy and welcoming, with ripe raspberry and blackberry fruits, slate, pummice stone, white pepper, pulses of energy and confident tannic hold. 60% new oak. Decanter: The 1995 Dominus is very much cut from the same cloth as the 1994, with a deep bouquet of baked black cherry, cassis, truffle and rich loamy soil, and a full-bodied, powerful and rather old-school palate impression. As in the 1994, there is just a touch of torrefection in the fruit tones here which the Dominus team have worked hard to avoid in more recent vintages, but this is a very compelling wine which certainly does nod towards Libourne."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2005 Dominus is deep garnet in color, with a touch of brick. It needs a lot of shaking to release notes of baked blackcurrants, fruitcake, and blueberry compote, plus hints of baking chocolate, licorice, dried mint, and pencil lead, plus a waft of wood smoke. The concentrated, hedonically styled, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with layers of black and blue fruit preserves, framed by wonderfully ripe, grainy tannins and well-integrated acidity, finishing very long, profound, and shimmery."

The Wine Advocate: A contemporary classic by which to measure Argentine Malbec, the 2018 As Bravas Malbec is a spectacular wine in every regard. It derives from a 1.7-hectare parcel of ungrafted vines planted in Cordón El Cepillo's colluvial limestone soils and contains 5% co-planted Sémillon. It was fermented in concrete pools with 30% whole clusters and underwent a 23-day maceration before maturing for fully 64 months in a 100-year-old Italian foudre. From the first pour, there is a quietly commanding quality to the nose, which ceaselessly evolves around a dark-fruited core and myriad savory aromas of dried spices, charcoal, ash, licorice, fresh herbs and violets. The palate is seemingly endlessly layered, combining a dense, staining texture with sophisticated understatement and supreme elegance. It culminates with an incredibly long, impactful, concentrated and captivatingly weightless finish, further elongated by a sturdy graphite-laden core and ultra-refined tannins that continuously swell. This is a timeless wine of symphonic balance that should effortlessly deliver over two decades of drinking pleasure."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Composed of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.5% Merlot, the 2019 Latour is deep garnet-purple in color. It comes barreling out of the glass with powerful notes of blackcurrant jelly, blackberry pie, and plum preserves, followed by suggestions of pencil shavings, cast-iron pan, and charcoal. The medium to full-bodied palate is exquisitely constructed with a myriad of very fine layers, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and beautiful tension, finishing epically long and mineral-laced. It's still very tightly wound and will require at least 5 to 7 more years in cellar, then should age gracefully for a good 50-years+."

Ca dei Frati - das Weingut in der Lombardei, direkt am Gardasee Ursprünglich war das heutige Weingut in Sirmione, unweit des Ufers des Gardasees, ein einfacher landwirtschaftlicher Betrieb, der von Andrea Frati im 18. Jahrhundert betrieben wurde. Der Fokus lag damals auf dem Anbau von Gemüse und Obst. Doch im Jahr 1939 änderte sich alles, als Felice Dal Cero das Gut übernahm. Felice, der Sohn des Winzers Domenico aus Montecchia di Crosara in Verona, erkannte das außergewöhnliche Potenzial der umliegenden Ländereien sofort. Er beschloss, den Weinbau auf dem Gut zu entwickeln und nutzte dabei sein umfangreiches Wissen und seine Erfahrung aus der Familiengeschichte. 30 Jahre später unterstützte Pietro – Felice’s Sohn - seinen Vater bei der Entstehung des DOC Lugana. Im Jahr 2012 verstarb Pietro, der das Weingut seinen Kindern Igino, Gian Franco und Anna Marie vermachte, die das Unternehmen noch bis heute mit voller Passion weiterführen. Wie ist das Terroir von Ca dei Frati gezeichnet? Das Terroir von Ca dei Frati spielt eine bedeutsame Rolle bei der Entstehung der Weine und prägt ihren einzigartigen Charakter. Die Trauben gedeihen auf sonnigen Weinbergen, der Boden ist vom steinigen ton- und kalkhaltigen Untergrund geprägt. Die unmittelbare Nähe zum Gardasee kommt den Reben zugute, denn das gemäßigtere Klima mit seinen kühlen Winden sorgt dafür, dass die Trauben langsamer reifen und somit ihr volles Aroma entfalten können. Die Weinberge von Ca dei Frati erstrecken sich über etwa 150 Hektar und sind größtenteils mit der einheimischen Rebsorte Turbiana bepflanzt. Diese Rebsorte ist bekannt für ihre frische Säure sowie ihr delikates Aroma und ist die Basis für einige der bekannten Weine des Weinguts. Das Gut bewirtschaftet aber auch weitere Rebsorten, darunter Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc und Garganega. Wie wird der Wein verarbeitet? Die Weinlese erfolgt von Hand, um sicherzustellen, dass nur reife und gesunde Trauben ausgewählt werden. Anschließend werden die Reben jedes Weinberges separat und mit Hilfe einer innovativen Technik, die über die Jahre hinweg verfeinert wurde, vinifiziert. Dadurch gewährleistet die Weinkellerei einwandfreie Weine zu produzieren. I Frati Lugana, Brolettino und Pratto – Die Weißweine von Ca dei Frati Das italienische Weingut stellt eine breite Palette an Weinen her. Der wohl bekannteste und beliebteste Weißwein aus dem Hause Ca dei Frati ist der „I Frati Lugana“, welcher vollständig aus der beheimateten Turbiana Rebsorte hergestellt wird, 12 Monate im Edelstahltank auf Feinhefe gärt und anschließend 5 Jahre in der Flasche reift. Im Gegensatz dazu ruht der „Brolettino“ 10 Monate im Barrique, bevor er für weitere 5 Jahre in der Flasche lagert. Dadurch gestaltet sich dieser Lugana sehr fruchtig mit Dichte und Struktur. 12 Monate im Edelstahltank und eine anschließende zweimonatige Flaschenreifung kennzeichnet den „Pratto“. Im Gegensatz zu den anderen Luganern von Ca dei Frati werden hierbei neben der Rebsorte Turbiana auch Chardonnay und Sauvignon Blanc verwendet. Ronchedone und Pietro Dal Cero – Die Rotweine von Ca dei Frati Liebhaber von Rotweinen kommen bei Ca dei Frati ebenfalls auf ihre Kosten. So bietet das Weingut zum einen den „Ronchedone“ an, bestehend aus Marzemino, Sanviovese und 10% Caberent, welche mit einer 14-monatigen Reifung im Eichenfass und anschließender Flaschenreifung von 10 Monaten einhergeht, bevor er den Weinkeller verlassen darf. Ein absolutes Highlight der Kellerei ist der Rotwein „Pietro Dal Cero“, der dem verstorbenen Vater gewidmet ist. Nachdem die Kinder von Pietro Dal Cero in den 90ern Jahren ca. 12 Hektar Ländereien östlich von Verona – der Heimatort ihres Vaters – erwerben konnten und weitere 10 Jahre in intensivster Vorarbeit das Projekt vorantrieben, erschien 2008 der erste Jahrgang dieses Amarones. Bereits der zweite Jahrgang wurde im renommierten italienischen Weinführer Gambero Rosso gelistet. Welche weiteren Weine produziert Ca dei Frati? Neben den bekannten Rot- und Weißweinen vinifiziert das Weingut auch den Süßwein „Tre Filer“. Ein sehr aromatischer Wein mit intensiven Noten von getrockneten Früchten und Honig. Sehr beliebt sind die sommerlichen Rose-Weine „Rosa dei Frati“ sowie „Rose Cuvee dei Frati“, welche die Rebsorten Groppello, Marzemino, Sangiovese und Barbera beinhalten. Beide Sorten eignen sich hervorragend sowohl als Aperitif als auch zu aufwändig zubereiteten Fischgerichten. Unter den Schaumweinen ist neben dem Cuvee dei Frati - Dosaggio Zero besonders der Schaumwein Cuvee dei Frati Spumanti Metodo Classico Brut hervorzuheben. Mit diesem Spumante macht man nichts falsch, denn seine Vielfältigkeit macht ihn zu Tisch zu einem bemerkenswerten Allrounder. Was macht die Lugana von Ca dei Frati so besonders? Das Weingut schafft es perfekt die italienische Leichtigkeit sowie „La dolce Vita“ in die Flasche abzufüllen. Die Weine von Ca dei Frati sind ideale Sommerweine und für lange, warme sowie gesellige Abende im Freien geeignet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das gute Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, denn einen soliden Wein mit einem fairen Preis anzubieten, ist für die Winzerfamilie eine Herzensangelegenheit und bis heute das Credo des Weinguts.

The wine is initially a bit closed, but with time, it shows an array of flavours ranging from ripe pear to quince and melon, accented with notes of chalky minerality, fresh white flowers and spice. The texture is elegant yet powerful, with abundant extract but enough acid to balance. The grapes are from just over 2ha in one solid block and the oldest vines were planted in 1947; they are fermented on native yeasts in tank and in barrel (10%)."

It’s a powerful, medium to full-bodied, incredibly textured rosé offering a huge amount of salty, chalky minerality as well as awesome notes of white cherries, orange blossom, caramelized apples, and toasted bread. It shows the ripe, rounded richness of the 2012 vintage yet has bright, racy acidity, perfect balance, and a great, great finish. It opens up nicely with air and will ideally be given 2-4 years of bottle age, and it should evolve for 2-3 decades."
