Bond - Assortment 2011

Das ASSORTMENT besteht aus - je eine Flasche 0,75 - Melbury, Pluribus, Quella, St. Eden und Vecina. Melbury 95+ ANTONIO GALLONI: "In this tasting, the 2011 Melbury doesn’t show the volume or structure of some of the more important vintages, but it has plenty of acidity to drink well for many years. Given the challenges of the vintage, the flavor profile is naturally a bit more savory than is the norm, while the palate-feel is a touch narrow. Even so, it is pretty clear the 2011 will have its day at some point in the future. Today, it is best cellared for at least another few years." 93 JAMES SUCKLING: "A wine with dried mushrooms and chewy, polished tannins. Full body with chocolate, walnuts and a juicy finish. Needs time to soften: better in 2016." 92 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The medium to full-bodied 2011 Melbury Proprietary Red Blend exhibits lots of blueberry and blackcurrant fruit, sweet tannin, an evolved, open-knit, friendly style, good purity and a long finish. Drink it now and over the next 10-15 years." Drink: 2014 - 2029. - Robert M. Parker, Jr. Pluribus 95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Displaying plenty of blueberry and black raspberry fruit, the soft, luscious 2011 Proprietary Red Blend Pluribus has more depth and concentration than it did from barrel. Full-bodied, opulent and complex, this beauty should drink nicely for 15-20 years." Drink: 2014 - 2034. - Robert M. Parker, Jr. 95 JAMES SUCKLING: "This shows great depth and length. Full-bodied and rich, with hazelnut, terracotta and berry character. Wonderful texture and length. Needs time to soften but already a joy to taste. Try in 2016." 94+ ANTONIO GALLONI: "Floral, lifted and precise, the 2011 Pluribus stands out for its magnificent balance, showing what was possible in this often unfairly maligned vintage. The 2011 is not a huge Cabernet but rather a wine that impresses for its nuance, finely cut fruit and fabulous sense of proportion. Hints of dark red cherry, plum, mint and wild flowers are laced into the expressive finish. What a pleasant surprise the 2011 Pluribus has turned out to be." 92 WINESPECTATOR: "Presents a wide range of dense, taut, rich flavors, extending from ripe plum and black cherry to dill, cedar, blackberry and olive. Ends with a pleasant chewiness. Drink now through 2023. 474 cases made." Quella 96 JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very seamless, with refined tannins. Savory, with hazelnut and berry. Full body, juicy and pretty. Long, lively finish. Better in 2017 but so caressing now." 95 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2011 Quella is fabulous. Aromatic and lifted like few wines are in this vertical, the 2011 possesses striking nuance and delineation from start to finish. Beams of firm tannin extend the mid-palate and add to what is a very palpable sense of energy and focus. One of the big surprises in this tasting, the 2011 is absolutely gorgeous today." 93 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2011 Quella Proprietary Red Blend is performing better from bottle than it did last year from barrel. Lots of black raspberry and blueberry fruit intermixed with notes of wet rocks and spring flowers jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, fleshy, beautifully evolved 2011 that is already showing secondary nuances and complexity. This vintage offers immediate gratification and drinkability. It should age effortlessly for another decade or more." Drink: 2014 - 2025 - Robert M. Parker, Jr. St. Eden 95 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2011 Proprietary Red Blend St. Eden is even better than it was last year from the barrel. This is always a great sign and reflects not only excellent winemaking, but meticulous élevage and bottling techniques. One of the superstars of this much maligned vintage, this beauty offers up notes of forest floor, Christmas fruitcake, cedar, blackcurrants and sweet cherries. Broad, savory, full-bodied and opulent, it is already complex and delicious, and should continue to provide immense pleasure for 10-15 more years." Drink: 2014 - 2029. - Robert M. Parker, Jr. 94+ ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2011 St. Eden is especially dark and brooding in this vintage. Inward and tightly wound, the 2011 nevertheless possesses gorgeous mid-palate density and finesse. Graphite, smoke, earthiness, dark cherry and plum notes gradually open up. Hints of sage, tobacco and menthol are all laced into the powerful finish. The 2011 St. Eden is a gem, it just needs time to fully come together." Dec 2014. 93 JAMES SUCKLING: "This is chewy, with a tar and berry character, including raspberries. Full body, tangy acidity, burnt orange and juicy fruit. Better in 2017." 91 WINESPECTATOR: "Firm, dense and concentrated, with a tight core of chewy blackberry, gravel, graphite, black licorice and cedar, ending with gripping tannins and a pretty floral scent. Drink now through 2022. 490 cases made." Vecina 95 ANTONIO GALLONI: "Black cherry, tobacco, cracked pepper, juniper berries cedar, leather, dried herbs and smoke are all finely sketched in the 2011 Vecina. Savory in its aromatics, yet also quite deep, the 2011 possesses remarkable concentration, especially within the context of the vintage, not to mention terrific overall balance." 94 JAMES SUCKLING: "A solid wine with terracotta, hazelnut, cocoa-powder and berry character. Medium to full body with velvety tannins. Some austerity. Needs a year or two to soften." 94 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2011 Vecina Proprietary Red Blend possesses Pauillac-like notes of scorched earth, new saddle leather, spice box, vanillin and blackcurrants. With great fruit, stunning depth and a distinctive earthiness, this open-knit, opulent, juicy, fleshy 2011 should drink well for 15-20 years." Drink: 2014 - 2034 - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
