THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Tasted single blind against its peers. This has a very well -defined nose of dried pineapple, quince and vanilla pod that unfolds seductively in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a mellifluous texture, although there remains some oak that needs to be subsumed into the wine. It displays fine definition towards the finish with impressive length. Always a little curmudgeonly in its youth, this Climens deserves a decade in bottle. Tasted January 2012."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Herbal, exotic nose with a gorgeous overripe citrus fruit. There’s a real rotten-fruit aroma here – which in another context would seem insulting. Here it fits beautifully. Very aromatic floral finish."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Medium bodied and lacking the sweetness and levels of richness, as well as botrytis found in the best vintage, there is a lot of charm to be had with the sweet, honeyed tropical fruit, forward, styled wine. For people seeking to match Sauternes with a meal, this is a good choice."

WINE SPECTATOR: "Ripe and luxurious, with creamed ginger, almond and glazed pear notes laced with warm piecrust, apricot and clementine flavors. Long and authoritative on the finish, this is frankly sweet, but with the latent purity for balance. Drink now through 2022. 1,250 cases made."

FALSTAFF: "Mittleres Gelbgold, Silberreflexe. Feine Trockenkräuterwürze, reife Birnenfrucht, Nuancen von Mandarinenzesten, zart nach Karamell. Mittlere Komplexität, frisch und lebendig strukturiert, mineralischer Touch, insgesamt schlank, die Botrytis nicht ganz perfekt, kann auch als Aperitif hergenommen werden, mittlere Länge."
