WEINWISSER: "Tiefes, dunkles Weinrot mit schwarzen Reflexen, ganz feine Reifetöne. Zu Beginn verhaltenes Bouquet, Nussnoten, Pfefferkuchen, wuchtig, viele Facetten, enorm tiefgründig, gebündelt, kraftvoll und völlig harmonisch, an der Luft permanent zulegend. Fester, gleich zu Beginn schon nobler Gaumen, hochfeine Gerbstoffe, samtig über das füllig-fleischige Extrakt rollend, cremige Textur, völlig homogen, geschliffen, wie ein grosser Château Cheval Blanc schmeckend, aufgrund der Cabernet-Franc-Aromen-Affinität enorm lang und erhaben im Finale. Ein Weltklassewein, seit vielen Jahren auf höchstem Niveau, brillant und immer noch ein grosses Stück Zukunft vor sich, zwei Stunden dekantieren."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "As for the 1991, 6,500 cases were produced of this potentially perfect wine. While this vintage of Dominus contains no Merlot in the blend, every time I taste it I am reminded of a great vintage of Petrus such as 1982, 1989 or 1990. Although different, the 1991 Dominus possesses extraordinary intensity, remarkable opulence, and amazing fruit extraction, all welded to a full-bodied structure. The wine´s sensational purity and inner-core of depth must be tasted to be believed. The 1991 will be approachable young because of its sweet tannin, yet it exhibits the potential to last for 25 years. Perhaps 1994 will rival it, but for now, the 1991 is unquestionably the greatest Dominus, as well as a potential legend in the making."

FALSTAFF: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, zarte Ockerreflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Ein Hauch von Edelholz und Brombeeren, zart nach Cassis und Tabak, feines Nougat-Karamell unterlegt, würziges Bukett. Am Gaumen dunkelbeerig und kraftvoll, komplexes, gut integriertes Tanningerüst, schwarze Kirschen im Abgang, mineralisch und anhaftend, jugendlicher Stil, verfügt über weiteres Reifepotenzial, absolut am Höhepunkt."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "A beautiful example of mature, classically styled, California Cabernet Sauvignon. The texture is lush, the tannins are smooth, the fruits are ripe, sweet and fresh, the perfume offers a delectable mix of leaf, dark cherry, blackberry and earthy notes with just the right amount of tobacco. This is at full peak maturity. All it needed was a pop and pour."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Magnum. A really excellent wine. Rich, round and subtle with an attractive warm earthiness underneath but no suggestion of overripeness. Great balance and life. I think I underrated its longevity in the two previous notes on this wine."
