The 2012 Haut-Brion Blanc has an entrancing bouquet of honeysuckle, fresh pear and greengage that is beautifully defined and seamlessly enmeshed with the oak. The palate is well balanced with just a patina of new oak, smooth and harmonious, fine mineralité here with a spicy finish that leaves the tongue tingling. This is very well crafted and it will just get better and better. Yes, my drinking window does advise ten years in bottle, since in my experience only this and the late Laville Haut-Brion age so magnificently. Therefore, that score may well rise in the future if I am ever afforded a chance to re-taste this superb white Bordeaux. Tasted January 2016."

DECANTER: "Fine lemon-yellow, floral, more white than yellow fruits with a lifted, taffeta elegance compared to La Mission white, the Chevalier to La Mission's Batard and both of them of Montrachet standing, a beautifully expressive wine of great length and finesse. Drinking Window 2015 - 2035"

WINE SPECTATOR: "This displays an impressive profile, with rich white peach, salted butter, macadamia nut, tangerine and warm brioche notes that show superior cut and definition, thanks to a terrific quinine accent that ripples on and on through the gorgeous finish. Should be rather long-lived, too. Best from 2017 through 2030."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is soft and round textured yet shows bright and lively acidity. It’s full-bodied, layered and beautiful. Sandalwood, dried apples and lemon rind. Layered and dense. Give it two or three years of bottle age."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Deep straw. Complex, brooding nose with strong lanolin and lots of greenery and richness. Real definition. Very crisp and refreshing but with great undertow and potential for ageing. Already delicious. Really broad and gorgeous. Precise but rich. Essence of lanolin."

FALSTAFF: "Helles Grüngelb, zart nach Stachelbeerkonfit, etwas Babybanane, angenehme vegetale Würze. Am Gaumen stattlich, feine gelbe Frucht, mineralisches Unterfutter, dezente Extraktsüße im Abgang, hat sich im Moment etwas verkapselt, die blättrige Nuancen dominieren im Finish etwas."
