Decanter
"Milk chocolate, cherry fruit, plums and blackcurrant sweets on the nose. This has a lovely texture, tannins are on the ripe, plush, chewy side and they do completely coat the mouth but this has a lovely perfumed aromatic to the fruit profile on the palate. Feels pretty, but also quietly powerful. Dense and driven still with a touch of austerity around the edges towards the finish. Give it time to soften more but there is lovely fruit definition here. Chateau Camensac

Der Name von Camensac (Second de Camensac) geht auf ein paar findige Mönche aus dem 17. Jahrhundert zurück. Die bauten damals Gräben unterhalb der Kieskuppen, auf denen die Reben damals wuchsen und noch heute wachsen. So leiteten sie überschüssiges Regenwasser ab. Im lokalen Dialekt bedeutet Camensac so viel wie Wasserweg. Das setzt sich zusammen aus camens (Weg) und ac (Wasser). Das Gut verfügt über 75 Hektar Weinberge, diese sind zu 60% mit Cabernet Sauvignon und zu 40% mit Merlot bestückt. Der Cabernet zieht aus den Kiesböden Fruchtigkeit, Temperament und Mineralität, in der Cuvée mäßigen ihn dann die alten Merlot-Reben mit ihrer verschwenderischen Großzügigkeit an Volumen. 15 bis 18 Monate liegen die Weine von Château Camensac in Eichenfässern, bevor sie in die Flasche kommen. 40% der Barriques wird jedes Jahr erneuert.
