JAMES SUCKLING: "Try to imagine the most beautiful exotic-fruit coulis, and then you have an idea of how this new style of Sauternes smells. Stunning concentration and purity of flavor. The knife-edge acidity electrifies the palate and turns the finish into a fireworks display of fruit and mineral freshness. You could drink this now, but its got enormous aging potential."

WEINWISSER: "Mitteldunkles Gelb, somit recht intensiv, leuchtender Rand. Enorm viel frische Früchte zeigend, Pfirsich, Ananas, zart leimige Botrytis, Vanillin und dann auch Lindenblüten im zweiten Ansatz, welcher auch eine feine Mineralik in sich birgt. Elegant fliessender Gaumen, er zeigt Nonchalance und Harmonie und auch hier kommt die Fruchtfrische wieder voll durch. Hier hat man die Finessen dem Reichtum vorgezogen. Und das wird wohl dann auch gleich die neue Marschrichtung für kommende Jahrgänge sein."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "It is the combination of honeyed citrus and tropical fruits that gives this wine its character. Add in all that honey, flowers and vanilla, and you get the picture. Sweet, ripe, fresh and balanced, this tastes almost as good as the stunning, Lalique bottle looks on your table. This certainly makes a statement."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2015 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale lemon-gold in color with gorgeous candied citrus peel, orange marmalade and lemon tart notes with hints of musk perfume and honeycomb. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and opulent with plenty of spicy notes coming through and a very long finish."

JEB DUNNUCK: "This 36-hectare estate made a stunning Sauternes and the 2015 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey (mostly Sémillon with 6% Sauvignon Blanc and a splash of Muscadelle) is loaded with notions of caramelized peach, orange marmalade, honey, and citrus oil. Full-bodied, incredibly opulent and rich, yet with good acidity, it’s a big, rich 2015 that has the concentration to keep for two decades or more. Tasted twice. This estate also utilizes Denis Dubourdieu as a consultant."

FALSTAFF: "Helles Gelbgold, Silberreflexe. Frische Wiesenkräuter, gelbe Tropenfruchtnuancen, zart nach Orangenzesten. Saftig, reifer Mangoton, feiner Blütenhonig, elegant und ausgewogen, eingebundene Süße im Abgang, feines Karamell im Abgang, Pfirsich im Rückgeschmack, gute Länge."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Barrel Sample. Luscious while still showing great balance, this is a fine wine. It has ripe orange and lemon flavors that are never too sweet. Acidity cuts through the texture, lifting the wine and giving it a brilliant, elegant aftertaste."

WINE SPECTATOR: "This has intense acacia, honey and orange peel notes, with glazed nectarine and peach flavors filling out the core. A piecrust edge caresses the finish but allows the fruit to hold center stage, resulting in a very pure, stylish Sauternes. Drink now through 2040."

DECANTER: "Perfumed nose of acacia honey, crystallised ginger, lemon verbena, juniper and fresh citrus fruit. Impeccable balance to the acid-sugar-tannin ratio and boasts noteworthy refinement. One of the best Sauternes of the vintage; refined yet powerful. Drinking Window 2019 - 2035"

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Tasted blind. Light and sugary. A bit simple initially but with verve underneath. Not the sweetest or the most complex. But on revisiting this has massive power and interest."
