  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

I have long admired the wines of Nairac so it was disappointing when in some recent vintages there was to wine produced. Now managed by Grand Chais de France there is better consistency here, and the latest result is this rather fine 2022. I find the nose to be layered with honey-drizzled pear and quince, with a bright minerally edge which feels typical of Nairac. This is matched by a delightfully energetic and poised palate, with layers of citrus and orchard fruits, swirled in a sweet and waxy richness, with vibrant acid freshness. A top result with fine cellaring potential."

  • Falstaff

Mittleres Goldgelb, silberfarbene Reflexe.

  • James Suckling

Concentrated and rather viscous with honeyed quince, smoked herbs, citrus, white mushrooms and beeswax. A touch of flint too. Quite intense and sweet but balanced with enough acidity and phenolic freshness. Complex, full and long in the finish. Drink or hold."

  • Wine Enthusiast

Under new management, this estate has definitely improved. The wine's delicate balance, typical of Barsac, is finely judged, as the winemakers ensured there was a touch of acidity to balance the honey and sweetness."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

Honeysuckle, orange rind, pineapples, caramel, crème brûlée, and roasted nuts pop in the perfume. The palate is as sweet as it is vibrant, showcasing a rich display of pineapples, saffron, and roasted cashews that really stick with you. Drink from 2027-2045."

  • Jane Anson

Dried apricot and fig, with waves of white pear and tarte tartin. Luscious, depth through the mid palate. Owned by the Tari family but the vineyard is now looked after by Grands Chais de France, overseen by Vincent Cachau with Valérie Lavigne consultant. Unusually this is 100% Sémillon in the 2022 vintage, will be aged in 30% new oak barrels, 145g/l residual sugar."

  • Decanter

Orange, peach, apricot and fleshy lemon notes on the palate, a richness and spice to this, edgy and straight, defined and precise with bite to the fruit. It's more focussed in terms of angles - this has bite and crunch which nicely offsets the sweet and unctuous fruit. Thick, filling, a bit compact and spiced still with some toastiness - liquorice, mint and minerality. An appealingly interesting style. 155g residual sugar. Harvest 11-18 October. Rolland & Associés consultants."

  • Wine Spectator

Plump and slightly exotic in feel, with pineapple, lemon chutney, ginger and buttered brioche notes that roll through the orange blossom-tinged and corpulent finish. Drink now through 2038. 370 cases made."

  • Jeb Dunnuck

An outstanding sweet wine, the 2022 Château Nairac is rich and layered, exhibiting honeyed orange, spice, and floral notes. Creamy and full-bodied, it has a vibrant mouthfeel and outstanding length. It should drink well for 15+ years."

  • Jancis Robinson

Pure and gourmand on the nose. Rich and sweet on the palate. Botrytised note but could do with a little more freshness. Slightly dusty finish."
