Orma 2020

JAMES SUCKLING: "Tobacco, sage and rosemary come through nicely, together with redcurrants and cassis. Full-bodied, yet polished, with a solid and dense center-palate. Tight at the end now, but will open nicely. Needs two or three years to develop. 50% merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon and 20% cabernet franc. Try after 2025."

DECANTER: "Fragrant and expressive on the nose, the floral / dried herbal scents mingle on the nose putting you squarely in Tuscany. Lifted and beautiful, a sensational vibrant, lively, pure and pristine wine. So carefully delivered in terms of texture with a joyous quality to the fruit flavours and mineral aspects - a cleanness and precision. Detailed and finessed. Stunning with fleshy but well-integrated tannins and a kick all the way through to a long fresh finish. Complexity and structure, supremely balanced. A top pick and great value! Ageing 18 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux then in bottle for one year before being released."

FALSTAFF: "Leuchtendes Rubin mit leichtem Violettschimmer. Intensive Nase mit Noten nach Gewürznelken, etwas Minze, feine Brombeere, im Hintergrund leicht erdige Komponenten. Breitet sich am Gaumen toll aus, hat viel feinmaschiges, herzhaftes Tannin, schöne Saftigkeit, knackige Frucht, im Finale langer Nachhall."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Orma 2020 Orma is richly concentrated and midnight black in appearance. It presents considerable intensity in terms of its ink-like flavors of wild plum, blackberry confit, dark spice and cured tobacco. The wine wraps heavily over the palate, imparting lots of important textural richness along the way. You are best off serving a wine of this depth and magnitude with a classic T-bone cut bistecca alla fiorentina."

WEINWISSER: "Der Orma 2020 der Familie Moretti Cuseri besteht zur Hälfte aus Merlot mit 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon und 20 % Cabernet Franc. Wie üblich bringt der Orma mit 15 vol.-%. eine gehörige Portion Gewicht mit sich, was in einer massiven, dunklen Farbe resultiert. Satt im Geruch und dabei weniger likörig als sonst, besitzt der Orma 2020 mehr Frische und auch die Fruchtaromen wirken klarer, mit frischen Kräutern untermalt, kernig und beerig-kirschig orientiert. Zunächst rund und saftig-schmelzig auf der Zunge, wirken die kraftvollen Gerbstoffe dann noch ein wenig roh, mit gläsern-stahliger Struktur. Mit viel Kern und Körper am Gaumen, wirkt der Orma in der Mitte noch ein wenig hohl und entwicklungsbedürftig."
