Nase: Sauerkirsche und dunkle Frucht, begleitet von Sangiovese typischen Noten wie getrockneten Kräutern und einer dezenten, herben Frische, die an Cabernet Franc erinnert. Dazu frisch gemahlener Kaffee und etwas Zedernholz.   Gaumen: Edelbitterschokolade, feinen Röstaromen und eine Säurestruktur, die toll eingebunden ist. Viele dunkle Früchte. Blaubeere, Brombeere und schwarze Johannisbeere. Das Tanningerüst ist feinkörnig und gut integriert.

Le Difese 2021 Dieser beeindruckende Rotwein präsentiert sich in einem funkelnden Rubinrot und verzaubert bereits in der Nase mit einem komplexen Bouquet aus reifen Sauerkirschen, Heidelbeeren und verführerischen Noten von Salbei sowie eleganter Holzwürze. Am Gaumen entfaltet sich ein harmonisches Zusammenspiel aus schmeichlerischem Charakter und kernigem Tannin, wobei die konzentrierte Frucht von subtilen Anklängen an Rosenblättern begleitet wird. Der Wein besticht durch seine klassische Struktur und perfekte Balance, die ihm eine bemerkenswerte Tiefe verleiht und in einem anhaltenden, geschmackvollen Finale mündet.

Brunello Pian delle Vigne 2019 Dieser beeindruckende Wein präsentiert sich in einem leuchtenden, dunklen Rubinrot und entfaltet sofort ein verführerisches Bouquet. In der Nase vereinen sich Aromen von reifen Kirschen, Preiselbeeren und Minznoten mit feinen balsamischen Anklängen. Am Gaumen besticht er durch eine harmonische Verbindung aus seidiger Textur und klarer Frucht, die von einer lebendigen Säurestruktur getragen wird. Die Geschmackspalette reicht von süßen Schwarzkirschen über Kardamom bis hin zu Espressonoten, während samtige Tannine einen langen, salzigen Nachhall begleiten. Ein warmherziger, stoffiger Wein mit präziser Balance zwischen Kraft und Eleganz, der sich bereits jetzt von seiner zugänglichen Seite zeigt.

Montepeloso A Quo In der Nase klare und frische Nase von Kirsche, Preiselbeere, Johannisbeere und getrocknete Kräuter. Am Gaumen dunkle, vollreife Johannisbeere, Kirsche, ganz dezente Barrique- und Gewürznoten. Seidiger Fluss, der die frische Aromatik der Nase perfekt abbildet, dabei ungemein schöne Balance aus Cabernet Franc, Montepulciano, Sangiovese und Frucht zeigend. Schöne Länge im Abgang mit Mineralik und Frische. Selbst unser hard-core Altweintrinker im Team meinte: „Ihr wisst ja, dass ich eigentlich Altweintrinker bin, aber der macht mal so richtig Spaß." Das ist ein perfekter Sommer-Rotwein, der Geschmeidigkeit, Eleganz und Frische auf einem Top-Niveau vereint.

The Wine Advocate: "The Marchesi Antinori 2017 Tignanello (made with Sangiovese and smaller parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) is a dark, exuberant and inviting wine. I tasted my sample after a double decanting and was pleased by the profound nature of the wine and the immediate openness of the aromas. There is a symphony of dark fruit with black cherry, plum, spice and sweet tobacco. I am particularly attracted by a distant hint of medicinal or menthol herb that I also discovered in other wines with fruit from the Tignanello estate in 2017. There's a drying mineral note of crushed chalk as well. The heat and dryness of the vintage has added to the aromatic intensity of the wine (yields were reduced by a third), but the mouthfeel is carefully crafted to maintain its softness and smoothness. Fruit comes from a 57-hectare section of the Tenuta Tignanello from a vineyard that is located 390 meters above sea level with Alberese limestone rock and soils of marine origin. The wine is fermented in conical oak tanks and is aged up to 16 months in a combination of mostly French and some Hungarian oak, both new and neutral. Some 300,000 bottles were released in April 2020 after one year of bottle age."

Wine Spectator: "Still vigorous, this combines density and intensity, offering cherry and strawberry flavors, accented by tobacco notes. A complex red, this finishes long."

The Wine Advocate: "The Fontodi 2021 Flaccianello della Pieve opens to a medium-dark inky appearance and solid aromas of black fruit and pressed blackberry. The Flaccianello is a touch more accessible at this early stage compared to the Vigna del Sorbo, but both wines are undoubtedly built to withstand ample cellar aging. Flaccianello is the more powerful or the two, and the Vigna del Sorbo is more delicate in comparison. These dueling character traits are especially evident in this classic 2021 vintage. This wine also boasts a more generous mouthfeel supported by softly integrated tannins."

Masseto gehört zu den exklusivsten und gesuchtesten Weinen der Toskana. Lange Jahre wurde der weltweit bekannte, reinsortige Merlot im Weingut Tenuta dell Ornellaia in Bolgheri nahe der Küste vinifiziert. James Suckling: "A big, rich wine for the vintage, yet poised and lively with firm, chewy tannins that give form and intensity to the wine. It shows loads of blackberry, blackcurrant and walnut flavors. Ripe yet polished tannins. Give this three or four years to come together."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Montevertine comes across as more classic than the Pergole Torte. Firm yet well-integrated tannins support expressive sweet red cherries, freshly cut flowers and mint. The 2009 is a highly attractive, pointed Montevertine that oozes class and elegance. Clean, saline notes inform the beautifully pointed, delineated finish. This is far from an easygoing 2009. The wine still needs time to fully come together. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029."

The Wine Advocate: "One of the unforgettable standouts in this historic retrospective, the 2007 Le Pergole Torte is an astonishing achievement. The wine offers soaring intensity and an enduring sense of balance and power. It has also entered a stunning phase in its lifeline, yet it still possesses that inner energy and youthfulness that ensures an even longer aging trajectory ahead. The bouquet is singular both in terms of its varietal purity and its aromatic reach. In many respects, this wine comes closest to the legendary 1990 Le Pergole Torte Riserva, an edition made only once in Montevertine's history. Indeed, this wine may have an upper leg on that wine given that inner youthfulness I mentioned above. The bouquet emits dark fruit and hints of exotic spice. The mouthfeel shows beautiful texture, fiber and even smoothness."

Falstaff: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, Ockerreflexe, breite Randaufhellung. Reifes rotes Waldbeerkonfit, zunächst ein Hauch von feuchter Wolle, Nuancen von Marzipan, Hagebutten, süßer Havannatabak, etwas Dörrobst, Anklänge von Earl Grey. Mittlerer Körper, feine Fruchtsüße, Nuancen von Mandarinen, frische Säurestruktur, zitroniger Touch, ausgewogen, befindet sich am Trinkhöhepunkt. Ein voll entwickelter, delikater und leichtfüßig wirkender Masseto, der zu einer bemerkenswerten Altersform aufgelaufen ist."

The Wine Advocate: "Here's our new little super star from the Tuscan Coast. The 2018 Massetino is Merlot with a dash of Cabernet Franc that makes all the difference in terms of the wine's aromatic precision and its overall staying power. Dark fruit and dried blackberry are followed by exotic spice and campfire ash. The aromas are fluid and relaxed, flowing seamlessly in unison and grace. If you love Masseto, you can't miss the Massetino. This wine offers a whole new take on the world-famous Merlot, and if we are to be honest, it paints a path to where future vintages of Masseto are going as an expression of a vineyard and territory rather than just a strict read of one grape."

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Massetino is 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. This is only the third vintage of this cuvée, which adds a splash of Cabernet Franc to give a dramatically different take on Masseto. Ripe black cherries, currants, tobacco leaf, scorched earth, and ample graphite are just some of the nuances here, and it does have a slightly more floral, herbal, focused edge compared to the more round and opulent Grand Vin. Rock solid on the palate and structured, tannic, yet balanced and concentrated, it's built for the long haul and will need 7-8 years to hit maturity, but it’s going to have 25-30 years of overall longevity."

James Suckling: "Dried apple, lemon, lime and lemon curd on the nose with hints of cedar. Medium-to full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, vivid finish. The vanilla cream and sliced fruit are so enticing. Just a hint of wood character at the end. Needs time to come together. Try after 2023."

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Ornellaia Bianco is a slightly tweaked blend compared to the 2016 and includes a splash of Viognier. The blend is 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Viognier, which is a combination you don't see often, yet it makes sense, and the Viognier plays the role of Semillon seen in Bordeaux Blanc releases. Coming from a dry, hot year, it has a beautiful bouquet of Meyer lemons, honeysuckle, flowers, and hints of barrique. This carries to a seamless, full-bodied white that's flawlessly balanced, has a bright core of acidity, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's one seriously classy white I'd be thrilled to drink any time over the coming 4-5 years."

James Suckling: "This is a fantastic white. The greatest Ornellaia white so far. Very complex and dense yet, at the same time, energetic and vivid. This shows so much richness and density with a pretty, phenolic texture that keeps you entranced. Full-bodied with lots of honeysuckle, green-melon and cooked-apple character. Very long and flavorful. Dynamic and great wine."

The Wine Advocate: "This wine brought to mind precise imagery of tailcoats, striped dress pants, wingtip collar shirts and other gentlemen's fashion choices from the Roaring Twenties. Sporting a retro but classic personality, the Marchesi Antinori 2018 Tignanello is quite the dapper and jovial wine that hits the market just as much of the world is emerging from a dark chapter of lockdowns and coronavirus curfews. I love the optimism that springs bright with such clarity and detail from within this blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 2016 vintage was a benchmark for sure, but I prefer the 2018, thanks to that tinge of nostalgia or emotion that is so deftly rendered in this cool, long growing season."
