Petrus 2013 - Ex Chateau

Bewertungen

  • Decanter

"The difficulties of the vintage are hardly evident here. Very deep in colour, the wine is dense and opulent on the nose, with black cherry aromas. It's ripe and solid, rich and very concentrated, showing ample force and extraction. For 2013 it's powerful and has some grandeur and is quite unlike the other Pomerols here. Spicy, imposing and long."

  • Wine Enthusiast

"This wine is ripe, juicy and already showing its concentration and depth. It showcases the fruit of the year, deliciously fresh while having a velvet tannic structure. The acidity will continue to keep the wine fresh, allowing the structure to develop slowly. It sings with great fruit and good potential. Drink from 2022."

  • James Suckling

"Very fine and structured with ultra-fine tannins. Medium bodied with beautiful density and texture. It has length and grip for the vintage."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"The 2013 Petrus is medium garnet in color. It rolls out with expressive notions of black cherry compote, cassis, rose oil, and licorice, followed by suggestions of spice cake, fertile loam, and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is laden with youthful red and black fruit layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and compelling tension, finishing long and fragrant. This is a triumph for this vintage!"

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"The color of garnet, the wine offers a distinctive floral note with cherry liqueur, Asian spice, smoke, kirsch and fresh raspberries. Silky, elegant, supple and soft, this gentle vintage of Petrus is all about the purity of the fruit and fine-grained tannins. Produced from yields of 26 hectoliters per hectare, according to Olivier Berrouet, this vintage reminds him of 1988."

  • Jane Anson

"In contrast to many estates, Petrus believes ‘above all you should not chaptilise; you need to take what nature gives you and make the most of it. Nature is the boss’. These were the words of winemaker Olivier Berrouet when I was tasting the En Primeur version of this wine, and it was clearly a sensible choice because it still feels unforced and full of pleasure at 10 years old. You'll find both grip and character, the tannins offering finely-boned architecture for the blueberry and blackberry fruit, and there's a kick of life through the finish. Confident, deft winemaking and in many ways an excellent way to approach Petrus and understand a little bit what it is about - although the price difference from other vintages doesn't reflect the difference in concentration and ageing potential. Harvest took place over three days, 2-4-6 October, bringing in a yield of 25 hl/h compared to 33 hl/h in 2012."

  • Falstaff

  • Jancis Robinson

"Shaded crimson. There's something quite animal about the nose and the palate is much more jagged than Lafleur's. Maybe it's still evolving but there's quite a bit of dry tannin, and this doesn't seem ready yet. Really quite unformed and chunky. Though there is undertow of complex fruit. Youthful. An extraordinary price!"

  • Wine Spectator

"This has excellent energy for the vintage, with a brambly, well-embedded spine that clearly drives the core of raspberry coulis, bitter plum and bright cherry preserves. Ample spice flickers through the finish, with a judicious hint of singed apple wood for nuance. This fleshes out steadily in the glass too, showing rare depth for the vintage. A great effort. Best from 2018 through 2028. "
