Verführerisches rotbeeriges Bouquet, reife Himbeere, Johannisbeergelee und Hibiskus, dahinter heller Tabak, Tonkabohne und verführerische Fliedernoten. Am saftigen Gaumen seidige Textur, herrliche Extraktfülle, straff geschnitten, stützende Rasse und engmaschiger Körper. Im konzentrierten Finale verschlankt sich der St.-Julien, Red Kurant-Drops, Hagebuttentee, tiefschürfende Terroirwürze und fein sandige Adstringenz. Kann mit den großartigen Vorjahren nicht (ganz) mithalten, gehört aber in seiner Klasse ganz klar zu den Besten."

  "A layered, refined St.-Julien that shows depth and polish. Cassis, pencil lead, mineral, cigar box and dark chili chocolate. The juicy, polished, fine-grained tannins grow on the medium-bodied palate. Very long, classy and resolved in the finish. Already an overachiever for the vintage. Better than from the barrel. Already a joy to drink, but will hold very well over the next 10 years."

Notes of cassis, raspberry coulis, and fresh blackberries spill from the glass, leading to suggestions of crushed rocks, iris bulb, and cardamom. The medium-bodied palate has great balance and bright black and red berry layers, supported by grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing on a fragrant earth note."

Medium-bodied, round, and supple, with solid mid-palate density as well a good sense of elegance in its tannins, this textbook, impressive Saint-Julen will shine for a solid 15-20 years if well stored. The 2021 is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 14 months in barrel."

It's quite savoury, with some dry, almost green and chalky tannins on the finish. A good example, perhaps missing a touch more vibrancy and lift, but it's structured and well balanced with concentration."
