FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, dezente Randaufhellung, frische schwarze Beerenfrucht, Nuancen von Cassis und Kirschen, feiner Edelholztouch. Mittlere Komplexität, Herzkirschen, feine Fruchtsüße, feine Tannine, lebendige Struktur, zarter Nougat, mineralischer Nachhall, klassischer Appellationscharakter."

DECANTER: "The sensual, lush-textured 2015 started the wine’s recent quality leap, but 2016, which I tasted in a 2015 to 2018 vertical, has more power, richness and silky complexity, and heady floral and red fruit aromas. That’s partly the year and partly more Cabernet Sauvignon (46%) to Merlot (44%) in the blend, which also includes spicy notes from more Petit Verdot (9%) and a 1% dash of Cabernet Franc. It was aged in 35% new oak. Drinking Window 2023 - 2040."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Deep in color the wine pops with oak, licorice, smoke, red fruits and espresso. The wine is medium-bodied, round delivers tobacco, licorice and dark, red pit fruit in the finish. Give this 7-8 years and pop a cork on the best value in the Margaux appellation."

WEINWISSER: "Sattes Purpur. Feingliedriges Bouquet mit viel süssen Heidel- und Walderdbeeren, dahinter kommen betörende Irisnoten auf. Im mittleren Gaumen mit gutem Fruchtdruck und Finesse, dadurch sehr elegant."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Dark purplish crimson. Lovely classic Margaux scented fruit. Ultra-fine, dry and elegant tannin texture. There’s a slight austerity here but everything is in balance for elegance in the longer term."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The deeply colored 2016 Château Siran is a chewy, rich, powerful effort that needs short-term cellaring to come together. Loads of black fruits, smoked meat, leather, and graphite notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied Margaux that takes some time to unwind, yet it’s going to be better with 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for 15+. It’s a solid, promising effort."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2016 Siran has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of cassis and chocolate-covered cherries with wafts of black soil, licorice and violets. The medium-bodied palate is lively with grainy tannins and a good fruit core."
