  "The hugely impressive 1995 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs displays ripe apple and pear scents. Broad, rich, deep, and medium to full-bodied, this dense (yet admirable balanced), powerful wine is packed with concentrated layers of white fruits, flowers, and toast. Notes of tangy green apples appear in its awesomely long finish to reinvigorate the palate."

  "A warm and wet spring preceded an early budbreak and flowering in 1995. The weather remained relatively warm and rainy during the growing season, leading to unprecedented mildew problems. Because of this, the thick-skinned Chardonnay generally did better than the Pinot Noir. 1995 is a marvellous vintage for Chardonnay, and the best wines continue to be very youthful. A recent bottle had a lemon-yellow colour and somewhat advanced aromas of baked apple and brioche nose with a caramel edge. As with many bottles of Comtes from this vintage, a very pronounced autolysis adds depth and weight."

  "Disgorged end of 2011. More mellow and complex on the nose than the 1996. Broad nose and then quite dry on the palate. Less juicy fruit. Just a little dusty and toasty on the palate. Lightly nutty. Even almost walnut skins – just a hint of astringency. But it's still charming. Just has lost a bit of fruit in the last few years. A little more 'relaxed' than the 1996."
