"The 2022 Château Tertre Rôteboeuf is gorgeous, and it has more than a passing resemblance to the 2010 (or is it the 2009?). Classic notes of black raspberries, sweet cassis, white chocolate, leafy tobacco, and spicy wood all shine here, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with flawless overall balance, ultra-fine tannins, and a finish that makes you salivate and keeps you coming back to the glass. It has the fruit to offer remarkable pleasure even today yet deserves 8-10 years of bottle age and will pretty much blow you away over the following 20-30 years."

"The aromatics of the 2022 from François Mitjavile display a fairly classic stance for young Tertre-Roteboeuf, with sweet black fruits, showing a lightly degraded sense of maturity, with toasted Darnajou oak and a wrapping of reduction. The palate continues with a surprisingly silky and polished character, with dark savoury fruits, blackberries, olives and liquorice resting on layers and layers of rightly knit, fully ripened tannins which fill out the palate with a remarkable density and breadth. A delicious composition, dark, savoury, structured with ripe grip, and yet fresh and light-footed, this is destined to be a super Tertre-Roteboeuf, even if the alcohol on the label comes in at 15%."

"Flowers, black raspberries, smoke, licorice, spice, mint, cocoa, and plums open the gorgeous perfume. On the palate, the wine is opulent, sensuous, rich, deep, and full. Flamboyant and intense, the wine coats your palate, lingers, and expands seamlessly for nearly 60 seconds. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% ABV. Harvesting took place from October 5 - October 15. Drink from 2028-2050."

"The texture is the first thing that strikes you here, with pummice stone salinity and an unfussy, luxurious uncurling of flavours that makes you want to pull up a chair and take your time. Plenty of tar, cloves, liqourice and grilled cedar, alongside blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with pomegranate and orange peel bitterness, not avoiding but leaning into the vintage conditions. Confident and full of limestone character, just a beautiful wine from the Mitjavile family in a year full of paradox. Harvest October 1-2. 100% new oak, medium plus toasting, which is where this tar grilling comes from. No crushing of the grapes but full destemming, no cold soaks, unfiltered until just before bottling. 100% of the vineyard always in Tertre Roteboeuf."

"Both the suavest and the most exotic cuvée in the Mitjaville portfolio, the 2022 Le Tertre Roteboeuf is a full-bodied, supple and fleshy wine evocative of blackberries, espresso roast, rose petals, spices and smoked meats. Concentrated, refined and seamless, it concludes with a long, aromatic finish. Readers might think of it as a cousin of the 2009 vintage, with its sweetness of fruit but rather ethereal, harmonious profile, which stands in contrast with more overtly powerful years, such as 2020 or 2010."

"This is very structured and intense with blackberries, currants, walnuts and chocolate. Fresh tobacco as well. Full-bodied, it has lovely fruit and a flavorful finish. A succulent and juicy red. One of the best ever from here. Leave it alone for two or three years. Best after 2028."

"Crushed stones and sweet black fruit on the nose alongside roses, violets, bramble fruit, liquorice and dark chocolate. Creamy, rich, intense and ripe with a sweet and savoury tang to the fruit. Supple and succulent, clearly concentrated with powerful tannins that have a soft plushness and grippy aspect but not dry - more powdery and mineral like grape skins with wet stone salinity. Clean and juicy, there’s a lovely purity, not too tannic despite the power underneath. Clean and well framed, there’s an air of opulence, really perfumed and striking but there’s also a sense of direction and focus. Nice energy and bold appeal. 30hl/ha."
