"From the Laubach formation of the grand cru, the 2015 Riesling Uhlen L 'VDP Grosse Lage' is super flinty, refined and elegant on the nose where perfectly ripe Riesling and white truffle aromas are displayed. On the palate, this is an intense, dense and finessed Riesling with great tension, salinity and complexity. The finish is aromatic, pure and very long, really what Reinhard Löwenstein was aiming for: to serve the intellectuals as well as the hedonists. A great and age-worthy Riesling."

"The green vegetal notes of the Laubach seem a little riper than those of the Blaufüsser Lay and come across as really fresh and aromatic. A very generous texture vindicates the assumption of great ripeness, but prominent yet rounded acidity provides the perfect pitch. Nuances of lemon sherbet stimulate the salivary glands; a sensory exploration of the herb garden completes another delightful Riesling Grosses Gewächs. (MS)"

Seit dem Jahr 1980 vinifiziert das Ehepaar Löwenstein in der wunderschönen Kulturlandschaft der Mosel auf extrem steilen und felsigen Lagen Meisterwerke des Rieslings. Mit dem 2015 HEYMANN LÖWENSTEIN RIESLING UHLEN LAUBACH GG gelang dem Ehepaar eine absolute Riesling-Referenz. Die Lage UHLEN LAUBACH prägt den Charakter der darauf stehenden Stöcke durch deren schluffigen, grauen Verwitterungsschiefer mit sehr hohem fossilen Kalkanteil, was diesem Wein eine unglaubliche Mineralität, Komplexität und Harmonie verleiht. Seit mehr als 30 Jahren bereits verzichtet das Ehepaar auf Mineraldünger, lediglich kompostierter Trester kommt zum Einsatz: „All dies führt zu diesem salzigen, ungemein spannenden Wein mit feinster Säure einerseits und schöner, aber keineswegs opulenter Dichte andererseits. Rauchige Aromen, Speck, Bergpfirsich, Kaschmir-gleicher Fluss, das ist Riesling, wie er seinem Namen und seiner Reputation mehr Ehre nicht machen könnte. Ein GGG (Ganz Großes Gewächs)!“
