Chateau Batailley
Chateau Batailley 2009
Kaufen!"
93 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Smooth black currant fruit with great density as well as superripeness. The wine is charming, while still having a powerful structure. Still a relative value in Pauillac, Batailley is now showing real class."
93 JAMES SUCKLING: "Blackberry, dark chocolate and currants on the nose, follow through to a full body, with beautifully polished tannins and a long caressing finish. Fresh and refined. Best ever from here. Always excellent value. Try after 2018."
92 THE WINEADVOCATE: "Medium-deep saturated color. Pleasing, but not fully forthcoming nose is sweet and smoky, with some cherry, cedar, herbs, and spice in the background. Quite modern in style on the palate. This is one of the biggest, most intense wines in the tasting, impressive for its size and mouth feel. However, the alcohol is too prominent right now. Otherwise, the ripe fruit and smoky oak have a seductive quality, especially as #12 sits in the glass. Acidity and tannin levels are moderate, while the finish is long and penetrating. You’ll be rewarded for giving 2009 Batailley time to come together."
91 WINE SPECTATOR: "A chewy core of black currant, tobacco and roasted apple wood stretches out through the grip-framed finish. Fresh acidity rides underneath to keep it all lively. A solid version, with a throwback hint. Best from 2013 through 2023."
