Antinori - Solaia 2011

Der Solaia 2011 beeindruckt mit einem satten, tiefdunklen Rubinrot und entfaltet ein Aroma von minziger Frische und Walnüssen. Schwarze Johannisbeeren und dunkle Kirschen ergänzen das aromatische Profil, untermalt von feinen Schokonoten. Am Gaumen zeigt sich eine Fülle reifer, präsenter Früchte, begleitet von geschmeidigem, dichtem Tannin, welches den Gaumen kraftvoll ausfüllt und für ein ausgewogenes, rundes Geschmackserlebnis sorgt. Begleitet wird dies von Noten nach Rauch, Kaffee und Anis. Das Finale ist intensiv und langanhaltend, geprägt von einem komplexen Zusammenspiel aus Balsamico, Gewürzen und einem Hauch von Terrakotta.

Falstaff: "Sattes, tiefdunkles Rubinviolett. Eröffnet mit Noten nach Minze und Walnüssen, dann satt nach schwarzen Ribiseln, dunklen Kirschen, im Hintergrund feine Schokotöne. Zeigt im Ansatz viel reife, präsente Frucht, öffnet sich mit geschmeidigem, dichtem Tannin, füllt den Gaumen kraftvoll aus, sehr ausgewogen und rund."

James Suckling: "A big, rich wine but there's lots of brightness and beauty at the same time. Shows licorice and asphalt. Full body with chewy tannins and a long finish. Terracotta, Tuscan dust and spice; balsamic too. This needs three to five years to soften. Intense finish."

Jancis Robinson: "Aged 14 months in new French oak. Wonderful bramble fruit. Very modern and easily mistaken for great New World Cabernet. Gorgeous fruit quality on the nose. Fine smoky perfume on the finish. Quite heady and opulent, but perfectly balanced, and set up for a very promising future."

Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of baked dark-skinned fruit, cedar, cooking spice and a balsamic note unfold in the glass. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, and 5% Cabernet Franc, the firmly structured palate delivers ripe black currants, dried black cherries, clove, mint, tobacco and anise alongside tightly woven but fine-grained tannins. Give this time to unwind and fully develop."

Wine Spectator: "A rich, bright red, displaying plum, blackberry, boysenberry, leather and spice notes, allied to a dense structure. Built for the long haul, this remains balanced and juicy through the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2018 through 2033. 500 cases imported."

Decanter: "Very youthful with ripe cassis, smoke, coffee and anise, the 2011 Solaia is laden with sweet dense fruit that just stops short of being top heavy. Admirably polished and silky tannins give this wine the balance it needs, although some warming alcohol does poke through on the finish. Winemaker Renzo Cotarella explained that due to the different nature of Cabernet Sauvignon's skin, it tends to be more resistant than Sangiovese in hot vintages."

The Wine Advocate: "The bouquet here is very ripe with thick tones of strawberry and blackberry folded within tobacco, leather and sweet spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc offer flavors of rum cake and candied fruit. There’s a good amount of tannic firmness surrounded by thick extract and fleshiness."
