  • James Suckling

"Good depth with multilayered complexity, showing paprika, stones, tobacco and cassis. Medium- to full-bodied, this has structured tannins and a sandblasted texture. Tight-boned and long. Needs at least two or three years of bottle-aging. Drink after 2027."

  • Decanter

"Coffee, black chocolate and liquorice tones on the nose. Spiced, deep and rich aromas, but not too hot. Lively and focused, bright red cherries and plums with strawberries too. Already quite smooth and calm on the palate, the tannins softly expand in the mouth with a powdery texture and lovely blue fruit flavours towards the finish with mint and subtle spice as well as clear salty graphite elements. Feels well controlled, cooling and complete. Given some air this will be great to drink and enjoy soon."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"The 2022 from Brown, equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, has seen 12 months of élevage in 40% new oak and 60% second-fill barrels. A glorious combination of dark and sweet fruits on the nose here, all black cherry, damson and currant, with some savoury notes of salted olive, coffee bean and toast. The palate steps it up a notch with a luscious start and midpalate filled with savoury black fruits, grained with saline energy, alongside the toast and coffee bean. A deliciously constructed palate follows, with all the dark and brooding substance of the vintage, but with freshness too. Long and charged with shimmering energy in the finish, this has a great future;surely one of the best Brown reds ever, and certainly well above where I had it when I tasted the primeurs sample. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 14.5%."

  • Wine Enthusiast

"The wine's polished leather aroma gives a precursor to the dense toast and tannins structure. It is powerful and dense, rich with black fruits and juicy acidity. Drink this wine, from an estate embedded in the suburbs of Bordeaux, from 2027."

  • Jane Anson

"Plump ruby colour and texture, bitter black chocolate and espresso, cassis and bilberry fruit, pretty good actually, has orange peel lift on the finish, ready to go but will keep delivering for next decade."

  • Wine Spectator

"Ripe and fleshy in feel, with enticing black currant and blackberry notes liberally laced with tar, dark tobacco and dried violet details. Sappy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2037. 4,000 cases made, 800 cases imported."

  • Jancis Robinson

"Deep crimson with a black core. Open and inviting with such pure, dark fruit. Juicy, sweet on the palate, with thick, chocolate-textured tannins. Big and rich. Deep, powerful but really well balanced."
