WINE SPECTATOR: "Very solid, this sports lots of fresh bay, pepper and rosemary notes amid a slightly chunky core of black currant and fig paste flavors. The finish picks up a prominent charcoal edge, but this is warm and inviting overall. Like a cabin hideaway, this is pleasantly rustic.—Blind 2000 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2015). Drink now through 2023. 20,000 cases made."

FALSTAFF: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, zarte Randaufhellung. Röstaromen, etwas Karamell, moderne Nase, dunkle Beerenfrucht, Gewürzanklänge. Saftig, extraktsüßer Körper, feste Tannine, braucht noch etwas Zeit, besitzt Länge, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "An outstanding Duhart, certainly one of the best produced at this estate since the 1996, 1986, and 1982, this blend of 80.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19.5% Merlot reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as notes of lead pencil intermixed with wet stones, black currants, and a certain leafiness. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and dense, but tightly-knit, with considerable tannin, it will require patience. For those willing to wait, it will be a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019."
