  • Jane Anson

"Intense, concentrated, a ton of Pauillac typicity in the quality and the character of the tanins. Earthy, with chalk board, crayon, pencil lead, good firm tannins, lovely. Great appellation signature, and this has power and concentrated deep plum and cassis fruits. Will age well, and should be good value, an absolute buy. Julien Viaud of Rolland Laboratory consultant, Pascale Peyronie owner and winemaker, 40% new oak."

  • Decanter

"Dark fruit and perfumed aromas on the nose, smells deep and floral. Textured and forward, this has an almost plush feeling on the palate - both juicy and fleshy fruit gives a feeling of depth and layering while the bright acidity and clear mint, espresso, liquorice and wet stones give accents and increase the interest. It's not one of the fullest or longest, but it's sleek and really well worked where nothing feels overdone. Textbook Pauillac."

  • Jeb Dunnuck

"Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2022 Château Fonbadet reveals classic Pauillac notes of currants, cassis, graphite, and freshly sharpened pencil, with a kiss of leather in the background. Medium to full-bodied, it’s round, pure, and focused on the palate, with ripe tannins and an elegant, fine-grained texture. Vinified in concrete tanks, it was aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak, with the rest in once-used barrels. 2,083 cases produced."

  • James Suckling

"A well-structured Pauillac with a medium to full body, showing currants, fresh blackberries, minerals and a touch of graphite. Compact and chalky on the palate, which is packed with fruit. 80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot. Long and already tempting, but better in two more years. Drink from 2027."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"An elegant nose of finely honed red cherry, dark chocolate and coffee bean here, with a touch of leathery spice. The palate is no less elegantly convincing than that nose, with dark chocolate, toast, coffee bean and smoke, with a harmonious and finely polished texture, with polished tannins supported the array of strong flavours which mirror the aromatics. Savory and bright, this is an impressive Fonbadet and surely one of the better vintages I have tasted from this property. The alcohol on the label is 14%."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"On the lush, round, juicy side of the style range, here you experience a wealth of ripe, sweet, fresh, blackberries, and black currants in every sniff and sip. The wine finishes with a richly-textured palate and a slight, salty accent with a touch of mint in the endnote. The wine blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot. Drink from 2027-2048."

  • Wine Spectator

"This slow but steady-moving style offers a warm, caressing profile, with cassis and plum reduction notes supported by cedar and tobacco nuances. A sleek iron element gives the chestnut- and cedar-tinged finish a streamlined feel. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2037. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 2,400 cases made."
