The second wine of both Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion, the 2022 La Clarte De Haut-Brion Blanc checks in as a blend of 53.7% Sauvignon and 46.3% Sémillon brought up in barrel. Grilled citrus, white flowers, and a beautiful sense of stony minerality all emerge from this beauty, and it's medium-bodied, has a fresh, focused, yet concentrated mouthfeel, as well as bright acidity. It's rich and textured, yet remarkably fresh and focused. This hit 14% with a pH of 3.29. It’s great today and will be great in 8-10 years as well."

Grapefruit and pineapple come together in this rich wine. There is a lightly herbal character along with fresh fruits and tropical flavors. This is a ripe wine but with considerable freshness."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

Grapefruit, green apples, pears, flowers, and lemon rind create the core of the wine. On the palate, the wine offers creamy-textured citrus, and green apples with spice, crushed stones and freshness in the finish. The wine blends 54% Semillon and 46% Semillon. 13.8% ABV, 3.29 pH. Drink from 2025-2037."

  • Falstaff

  • James Suckling

Lots of matchstick with pear-drop and lemon-tart aromas and flavors. It's medium-bodied and bright, with a velvety texture. Long and flavorful. Second wine of La Mission and Haut Brion. Drinkable now, but better in a couple of years."

  • The Wine Advocate

Notes of confit citrus, herbs and boxwood preface the 2022 La Clarté de Haut-Brion, a medium to full-bodied, juicy and energetic white wine with good depth at the core, elegant acidity and a long, mouthwatering finish."

  • Jane Anson

Aromatics major on sage and citrus, with plenty of juicy grapefruit, white pepper and apricot pit on the palate. Delivers texture and lift, even touches of Sauvignon signature, with white flowers on the finish. Not quite the grip of the very best vintages of Clarté, but this is a lovely wine. 38% new oak for ageing. Single point upgrade from En Primeur."

  • Decanter

Extremely expressive aromas on the nose - elderflower, straw, green apples and mint. Touches of cedar spice accent honeyed lemon and peach fruit with a glossy texture. Not super alive or bright on the palate, the focus here is more on the slightly thick texture and really aromatic fruit profile. It has great clarity with a shot of bitter orange juiciness and elements of cool and creamy toasted caramel on the finish. Not super long. 3.29pH. 38% new oak."

  • Weinwisser

  • Jancis Robinson

Slightly grassy edge but juicy and pleasing. Good mid-palate fruit and a point of freshness. More for early drinking."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The blend here is 54% Sauvignon and 46% Semillon, less Semillon than usual, while the élevage was in 38% new oak. Crushed citrus fruit, candle wax, a touch of dried apricot, with some green leafy edges on the nose. A rather simple start to the palate, with shy fruit, a rather restrained Semillon substance while the Sauvignon aromatics aren’t showing too strongly, and the overall impact feels rather low-key. It certainly has substance though, and a gentle but undeniable phenolic grip, so this does have something to offer. It culminates in a soft, sappy, powdery finish. Coming back to it a second time it does show more form, and perhaps benefits from some air, nevertheless I think I would drink this cool, and fairly young, as it does not have the greatest energy level. The alcohol on the label is 14%."
