  • James Suckling

"A juicy and expressive red with plum and berry character as well as hints of crushed stones and grilled citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, it has juicy fruit and a flavorful finish. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. 10% whole-bunch fermentation. Very attractive now but even better in two or three years."

  • Weinwisser

"Delikates rotbeeriges Bouquet, getrocknete Küchenkräuter, helles Graphit und Walderdbeeren. Am sublimen trainierten Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, balancierter Rasse und engmaschigem Tanningerüst. Im gebündelten feinaromatischen Finale Preiselbeere, Estragon und dunkle Mineralik. Auf dem gleichen Niveau wie 2019 und 2018!"

  • Falstaff

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische Herzkirschen, Zwetschken, etwas Nugat und Orangenzesten, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, reife Pflaumen, dezenter Säurebogen, feine Fruchtsüße, bereits entwickelt, ein charmanter Speisenbegleiter."

  • Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Classically styled – classic for the Cabernet-on-sand combo offered by La Tour Figeac I mean – this is aromatically very distinctive, with redcurrant, rosemary, mint and tobacco on the nose, and it feels absolutely typical of the domaine. The palate continues with an elegant sense of restraint, showing a fine core of ripe tannins dressed with tobacco and leather-washed fruits, with a rich spindle of finely polished tannins at its heart, and a peppery energy. Beautifully poised and linear, with a long, coherent and harmonious finish filled with focused tannin and fragrant, sandy, perfumed fruit, this holds great promise, and I am sure it will please all Cabernet Franc fans out there. Much more convincing than I found at the primeurs, when I found the barrel samples quite unconvincing. But this was certainly worth reappraisal. Tasted twice."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

"Silky, fresh, supple, and creamy, the vibrancy in the fruits pairs perfectly with the sensuously textured, chocolate-tinted fruits in the mid-palate and long, medium-bodied finish. Drink from 2025-2045."

  • The Wine Advocate

"The 2022 La Tour Figeac has a completely seductive bouquet of rose, cassis, mulberries and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, suave and seamless, it has a fleshy core of fruit, enveloping and layered texture and a long, perfumed and lively finish. This blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc is a real success and a wine that always rewards patience."

  • Jane Anson

"Sharp shot of lemongrass among the raspberry and red cherry fruits, this has lift and character, good quality, 40% new oak for ageing, 30hl/h yields, 13.5ha vineyard."

  • Decanter

"Ripe and concentrated aromas, sun-kissed blackcurrants, violets, vanilla and cinnamon. Massy and a touch dry on the palate, the tannins feel a little oppressive at this point, filling the mouth with a powdery texture while the ripe, chewy strawberry flavours and cool minty aspects take the back seat. This has broad shoulders and plenty of heft - big construction with a lot of power and punch. A little old school in profile after ageing with toasted touches of clove and tobacco on the finish but once this settles this will be enjoyable. Organic."

  • Wine Enthusiast

"The wine is rich and structured. Its density gives it weight, mitigated by the wine's acidity. The wine's complexity will develop well."

  • Jeb Dunnuck

"Never the biggest or richest wine in a vintage, the 2022 Château La Tour Figeac is nevertheless beautifully balanced and elegant, with a pretty perfume of spicy red and black fruits, savory flowers, camphor, and spicy wood. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a supple, elegant mouthfeel, it should drink nicely over the coming 15 years or so."

  • Jancis Robinson

"Blackish purple with a pale rim. Zesty nose with good attack. Good balance of fruit and lightly inky tannins with the fruit winning! A very nice, lively whole that you could drink young or old. Glossy texture. Intriguing finish."
