  • James Suckling

A nicely structured, savory and textured Pomerol. The nose exhibits blueberries, mulberries, dark plums, dried violets, wet floor and mild spices. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Plenty of graphite character on the palate with a seductive frame of berries and spices mingling harmoniously. Well-driven with a long, focused finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2027."

  • Wine Spectator

Mulled red and black currant fruit moves through slowly, pulling licorice root, black tea and singed savory notes along with it. A subtle sanguine twang at the very end gives this nice lift. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2038. 3,225 cases made, 300 cases imported."

  • The Wine Cellar Insider

Floral, fresh, and energetic the wine relies on its purity, refinement, soft, silky, tannins, and elegant finish over power. The fruit is ripe, sweet, and plush, and feels just as good as it tastes. This is another wine that really developed a lot more stuffing from its sojourn in the barrel. The wine blends 86% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2026-2040."

From an estate close to the Libourne bypass, still managed by Alain Moueix, this opens with a rather fragrant nose of crystalline blackcurrant, rose petal, sandalwood and mint. There follows a very honest and fresh composition on the palate, with a light bed of redcurrant, orange and red cherry fruit, with red pepper and peony scents, all resting on a tightly knit and modestly grained layer of tannins, with vivacious acidity. It maintains a very correct poise through to the finish, which feels sappy with lightly drying tannin. A very fresh and tight-knit style of Pomerol, this will need five or so years to come together, but it has promise. Well done."

  • The Wine Advocate

Picked between 1 and 19 September, the 2022 Mazeyres offers up aromas of minty dark berries, licorice and tobacco leaf, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's supple, gourmand and enveloping. This charming organically and biodynamically farmed Pomerol is produced by Alain Mouiex."

  • Weinwisser

  • Falstaff

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Veilchen, Nugat, reife schwarze Kirschen, feiner Edelholztouch. Stoffig, süß, reife Pflaumen, dezenter Säurebogen, schokoladiger Touch, feine Kräuterwürze im Abgang, opulenter, zugänglicher Stil. Individueller Nebenton nach Tintenblei, der allerdings störend ist."

Like the floral aromatics here, followed by raspberry puree, just the right amount of rustic to make it approachable and not overly sleek, has juice and character, and is an enjoyable wine. Guillard family owners since 2020, still with Alain Moueix as director. 18hl/h yield, harvest September 1 to 22, 30% in barrel, 20% in cement edges, 30% in large oak cask and 20% in amphora.Certified organic and biodynamic."

  • Jeb Dunnuck

The 2022 Château Mazeyres is solid and well worth purchasing. Based on 78% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, it has a juicy, fresh, lively style in its mulberry and darker plum-like fruit, and it’s forward, medium-bodied, and easygoing. It should drink well for 10-12 years."

  • Decanter

Wonderfully scented nose, fresh blackcurrants and black cherries, open and expressive. Lively and focused, if quite spicy, on the palate. Almost high toned red fruits with some bitter orange peel are framed by fine, tight tannins that give this a sleek, funnelled feel. It's light, definitely not plush or chewy, more sleek with lots of florality all the way though even on the finish alongside clove and aniseed."

  • Jancis Robinson

Deep crimson. Rich in dark fruit and dark chocolate. Thick, chewy texture, firm tannins but enough fruit to fill them out. Just a bit flat overall and could do with a little more freshness."
