Loaded with notions of smoky black fruits, tobacco leaf, cassis, and gravelly, earthy minerality, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has ripe tannins, impeccable balance, and a blockbuster finish. Give bottles 2-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 15+."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: THE WINEADVOCATE:"A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Moulin Saint-Georges is a little closed to begin, sporting subtle notes of baked cherries, mulberries and fresh plums with touches of cedar chest, pencil shavings and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, the oak is a tad apparent at this youthful stage, lending a chewy nature to the texture yet with a great intensity of vibrant, youthful fruit to match, finishing with plenty of red fruit sparks."

DECANTER: DECANTER:"This is utterly gorgeous as ever, and it must be one of the most consistent deliveries out of the big names on the right bank, showing lively, fresh and juicy black fruits. Maybe a little soft on the finish, but hard not to love this. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc in the blend, with a yield of 30hl/ha, naturally low due to mildew."

On the palate, the wine is silky, spicy, fresh and shows a bit of tannin that needs to soften. A few years in the bottle will allow the juicy, fresh, red fruits to come alive, and for more length and softness to appear."

WEINWISSER: WEINWISSER:"Sattes Purpur mit violettem Rand. Viel Würze zeigend mit schwarzem Pfeffer, dahinter Pflaumentöne, fleischige Noten und etwas Flieder. Sehr kompakter Gaumen mit mehligem Tannin, gut stützende Frische – etwas zu brav für dieses Jahr!"
