  Decanter
  "Rich purple in colour, you really get the ink, liquorice and bitter dark chocolate notes here, all taken up a level and extremely well handled, with a super-attractive savoury lick that comes from the limestone soils. Pavie needs 10 years at an absolute minimum (except in 2003) to begin its conversation, and here we are starting to see what it can do. It's a very good wine that's powerful, concentrated, intense and ripe, but it has restraint and lift on the finish. It's not over-reaching, but rather very clearly marking its territory. It still needs longer to get there, but it's hard to argue with the construction of this wine, and to be totally honest I'm more impressed than I expected."

  "This is generous and yet given definition and character by the saline twist and pulse of electicity and minerality that shoots through the palate. Blackberry, cassis, soy, charcoal, crushed stone, orange peel, juicy on the finish. Higher alcohols at this point but effortlessly balanced by the fresh acidities and supple tannins. Part of the warm vintages series within this vertical. 80% new oak."

  "Dunkles Beerenkonfit, feine Gewürzanklänge, Orangenzesten, ätherische Nuancen. Am Gaumen sehr elegant und frisch, junge Weichsel-Kirschen-Frucht, präsente Tannine, verspielt und fein strukturiert, mineralischer Nachhall, Finesse."

  "This is a "wow" wine, with a stunning display of plum, blackberry and raspberry confiture aromas and flavors, allied to a dense but very velvety structure. Licorice, violet and plum cake notes fill in the background. Everything carries through the long, lush finish until the fine chalky minerality finally appears, adding remarkable finesse to this otherwise explosive display.   "A really nice showing for this wine. It is just coming out of its deep sleep. Lush, silky, polished and long. The waves of licorice, espresso, black cherry, dark plum, smoke and background notes of flowers gets the wine off to a good start. Long and lingering, with a nice touch f crushed stone in the finish, even though this is still young, with air, you can pop a cork, else 3-5 years will add a lot here."
