Seine kristalline Säure verleiht ihm großartige Frische und feinbalancierte, gläserne Gerbstoffe."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A very juicy and rounded young 2021 with berry, chocolate, cedar, balsamic, and redwood aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Velvety tannins. Excellent finish. Extremely well done for the vintage. 79% merlot, 19% cabernet franc and 2% cabernet sauvignon. Best after 2028."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The 2021 Pavie Macquin has a deep garnet-purple color. Fragrant notions of star anise, lilacs, and fertile loam give way to a core of juicy plums and mulberries, plus a touch of dried lavender. The medium-bodied palate delivers an impressive intensity of bright, pure red and black berry flavors, supported by velvety tannins and great tension, finishing on a lingering, exotic spice note."

DECANTER: "Gorgeous cool blue fruits, liquorice and salty nose, smells clean but really expressive. Ripe and round, full and forward, quite extracted with plump/thick fruit, however there's great depth and energy here, concentrated fruit clearly ripe but also with cool touches of blueberry and cola and wet stones that bring nuance. Nice energy and focus, streamlined but it has a great weight and sense of character. Very good - energy and liveliness still with bite and grip from 2021, but a great effort."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2021 Pavie Macquin offers up aromas of cherries, blackberries and raspberries mingled with mint, spices and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of fruit framed by chalky tannins that assert themselves on the comparatively structured, mineral finish, it's a strong effort."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2021 Château Pavie Macquin is a beautiful wine in the vintage, bringing rock-solid concentration and depth as well as its hallmark purity and elegance. Cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, and violet notes define the aromatics, and it’s medium-bodied, has terrific mid-palate depth, fine tannins, and outstanding length. I love its purity, and it has classic Pavie Macquin character. This beauty will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the following 15+ years. It's clearly a success in this vintage. The blend is 79% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, representing 80% of the total production, with roughly 4,600 cases produced."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine Edelholznote, schwarze Waldbeeren, zart nach Lakritze, dunkle Kirschen und Zedernholz. Komplex, saftig, reife Zwetschken, Brombeerkonfitüre, markante Frische, gut integrierte Tannine, mineralisch und gut anhaftend, zeigt Länge, verfügt über Entwicklungspotenzial."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Blac and red fruits, with loads of spices and fresh flowers in the nose is a great introduction to the wine. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, polished, lively, and, which is the perfect backdrop for all of its sweet, red fruits. The finish is packed with a blend of crushed rocks and red fruits. The wine blends 79% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2026-2048."

VINUM: "Intensiver Duft, strahlende Frucht, Cassis, Brombeere, Röstnoten, mineralische und florale Noten. Am Gaumen gradlinig, straff, Kraft, das kalkige Terroir drückt durch, leider etwas viel Extraktion, trocknendes Finale."

WINE SPECTATOR: "Though leaning to the light, trim aspect of the vintage, this reveals juicy energy behind the red currant and damson plum fruit notes, while red tea, sanguine and singed cedar accents score the finish. Nicely done. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2036."
