JAMES SUCKLING: "This Petrus is solid for the vintage with bright and pretty fruit. It’s full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a berry, Indian spice, and cinnamon character. Long and intense. Better than most may believe. Still needs some time but who can wait?"

WEINWISSER: "Mitteldunkles Purpur. Viel rote Beeren in der vielschichtigen Nase, rote Kirschen, Himbeeren, Maulbeeren, ein feiner Touch Grenadine, Kokos und helle Hölzer. Im Gaumen Souplesse, Charme, seidige Tannine, stützende Adstringenz, im Nachklang Reserven zeigend. Ein Pétrus, der schon nach fünf Jahren einen ersten Genuss bieten könnte. Im Stil des 1985ers, aber mit bedeutend selektiverer Vinifikation."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Petrus has a sumptuous bouquet with ample mulberry, truffle and pain d'epices aromas that are beautifully defined. It just seems to gain more and more volume in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, plenty of leather-tinged red fruit, clove and black pepper, a Pomerol with quite a sturdy finish that should see it age with style. This Petrus just seems to be coming into its own now. This is excellent. Tasted February 2017."

FALSTAFF: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Randaufhellung. In der Nase saftige, dunkle Beerenfrucht mit einem zarten Hauch Hagebuttenjam, Schlehenbeeren, gewürzige Nuancen, Edelholzanklang. Am Gaumen feines Kirschenkonfit, zart nach Orangen, feiner Tanninteppich, der den Mund gut auskleidet, extraktsüße Frucht im Nachhall, mineralischer Nachhall, zeigt sein edles Geblüt."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Bricky ruby. Much less nuanced on the nose than the Le Pin but still with red-fruit sweetness and a hint of maturity. Simpler, with chalky texture, juicy and mouth-watering, becoming more fragrant in the glass. Persistent. (JH)"
