Chateau Lafon Rochet 2020 Ein wahrhaft faszinierender Wein, dessen tiefes Rubingranat mit violetten Reflexen bereits im Glas beeindruckt. Das vielschichtige Bouquet verzaubert mit floralen Anklängen von Veilchen und Rosenblättern, während saftige Brombeeren, reife Pflaumen und feine Nuancen von Schokolade und Orangenschalen die Nase verwöhnen. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der 2020er mit einer bemerkenswerten Balance aus Kraft und Eleganz – vollmundig und konzentriert, mit seidigen Tanninen und einer lebendigen Säurestruktur. Die geschmackliche Komplexität wird durch Noten von Gewürzen, schwarzen Kirschen und einem Hauch von Graphit perfekt abgerundet. Im langen, harmonischen Finale offenbart sich seine außergewöhnliche Qualität.

Auf Bogle werden u.a. folgende Rebsorten verarbeitet: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Riesling und Sauvignon Blanc. Weine wie Essential Chardonnay, Essential Red, Old Vine Zinfandel, Phantom, Reserve Chardonnay Clarksburg, Reserve Chardonnay River Ranch oder Reserve Syrah El Dorado Hills sind mittlerweile ein Begriff unter Insidern. The Wine Advocate: "The bottled 2020 Pingus has settled, and the strong Mediterranean accent that was quite strong early on seems to have calmed down. The wine shows more of the serious Pingus character and is harmonious, balanced and elegant, perhaps because of the time it spent in oak vat (starting this year, it is not only in barrique). It feels very complete and intense but without weight or heaviness, and the fruit shows very clean and focused. Peter Sisseck compared it with the 2000, a wine that for him transcends the vintage; it showcases the balance (wines like 1996, 2000, 2012, 2016 and 2018). The quality of the tannins is stunning, which make the wine very elegant and balanced, and it has good freshness (even some red fruit!). This is exceptionally good, but somehow my heart didn't beat like with the wines he compared them with... 7,500 bottles were filled in July 2022.

Almaviva 2020 Dieser chilenische Ausnahmewein aus dem warmen Jahrgang 2020 präsentiert sich in einem tiefdunklen Rubingranat mit violetten Reflexen. In der komplexen Nase entfalten sich verführerische Aromen von schwarzen Beeren, Cassis und reifen Kirschen, untermalt von Noten aus Vanille, Zimt, Kardamom und dezenten Kräutern. Am Gaumen beeindruckt er durch seine kraftvolle, dennoch elegante Struktur mit samtigen, gut eingebundenen Tanninen. Die lebendige Säure sorgt für Frische und Balance, während feine Nuancen von süßen Gewürzen, Nougat und schwarzen Früchten den langen Abgang prägen. Ein harmonischer, vielschichtiger Wein von beachtlicher Tiefe und seidiger Textur.

Decanter: DECANTER:"Impressive concentration of blackberry and plum fruit, with a strong saline, mineral cast; at this point there is still a bit of reduction as well. On the palate, the wine is tightly wound and seriously tannic, with the concentration to age for decades. An extraordinary wine at the premier cru level. A tiny triangle that touches both Mazis-Chambertin and Ruchottes-Chambertin provides the fruit for this delicious wine. The grapes are planted on stakes ('en echalas') in very little soil, and the fruit is fermented largely as whole-cluster and regularly punched down."

Wafting from the glass with aromas of dark wild berries, licorice, lilac blossom and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with terrific concentration, lively acids and beautifully refined tannins, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy is also a notable success, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark wild berries, spices, licorice and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's as concentrated as ever, with striking depth and mid-palate volume, but it's also especially seamless and suave this year, reflecting Loïc Dugat-Py's shift toward gentler winemaking and more discreet élevage."

The Wine Advocate: "Offering up aromas of cherries, sweet berries, petals, vine smoke and spices, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, its fleshy core of fruit underpinned by sweet tannins and tangy acids. This is a superb effort for what is on paper one of the domaine's "entry level" bottlings."

Decanter: „Dugat-Py used almost 90% whole clusters in the fermentation in 2020, but the wine has no rustic edges, and the focus remains on the finesse and depth of the ripe plummy fruit accented with mineral notes plus a hint of violets. The wine is concentrated, complex and long, yet it retains a consummate elegance despite the power. Dugat-Py produces one of the rarest bottlings of Chambertin, but it is certainly worth seeking out. The wine is produced from a tiny 0.05ha plot of vines planted in 1910 near the top of the slope."

Decanter: „A massive wine with black fruit and an imposing structure, plenty of depth, and impressive persistence on the palate. Although this is muscular, it is perfectly balanced. The Mazoyères from Dugat-Py is unlike any other. Loïc Dugat-Py explains that the soil in his quarter-hectare parcel of Mazoyères has larger pebbles than the parcel of Charmes just 100m distant."

The Wine Advocate: „The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux wafts from the glass with aromas of rose petals, bergamot, plums, berries, espresso roast and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and enveloping, it's one of the most elegant, sensual wine in the range, with lively acids and beautifully refined tannins, concluding with a mouthwatering finish."

The Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves is still a little reserved after its recent bottling, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries and raspberries mingled with hints of spices and new oak. Medium to full-bodied and ample, with lively acids and powdery, chalky tannins, it will reward a bit of patience."

Decanter: „The wine has a lovely, ripe dark plum and cassis fruit, and a firm, tannic texture. The finish sports what the French are calling 'beaux amers’ (beautiful bitterness) which adds complexity. This should age well. With Thierry’s son Joannès taking over the winemaking, this Clos des Mouches is now 100% whole-cluster, punched down twice daily. The wine is aged with a moderate amount of new oak to produce this Beaune with guts."

Decanter: „Deeply coloured and full of plummy fruit, with a mineral undercurrent on the nose, while the texture has a lovely density and a fleshy feel to it, before an expressive finish. This wine will drink young, but it certainly has the substance for ageing as well. Comes from a 0.45ha parcel of old vines in Rugiens Hauts, now entirely fermented as whole bunches."

Decanter: „The wine has an intensely ripe, inky, black plum fruit, with notes of spice and an element of ground coffee. The texture is firm, with plenty of tannic grip, but there is generosity and silkiness as well. Lovely and very well done; among the top wines in the cellar. The domaine has 0.25ha of 70-year-old vines in Les Petits Epenots, although it is labeled simply Epenots (as many do). This is fermented entirely as whole clusters after a cold soak and aged in 45% new casks."

Decanter: „Shows a ripe raspberry fruit, with a menthol edge, firm tannins, fresh acidity and plenty of extract. This should drink within a few years and make a wonderful wine for mid-term cellaring. This south-facing parcel of 0.7ha was originally planted in 1936 although 20% was replanted in 1982. Despite the aspect it is fairly late-ripening. 60% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters and the wine is aged in 45% new casks."
